Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

The weather yesterday was not needed. I ordered some more eggs...and guess when they were delivered. So, the box was marked on the outside to hold at the post office, and call, with my phone number . Well, that didnt happen...instead, my eggs went on a wild ride all day with our mail carrier, including getting stuck in the ditch 6 times. I called the post office a couple times..and was told I'd have to pick the packages up at the post office the next day. So I show up at the Post Office a few minutes before 5..hoping that the package has made it back and I can pick it up before they close. Well, it wasnt there. After a lengthy discussion, I get them to call the carrier and find where he is so I can go out and meet him to get my eggs.

After driving around, looking for the mail truck where they said he would be...I head home...and there he sits in my driveway waiting for me. If it was that easy...why didnt they just ask him to stop by the house again???? Ah well, unpacked the eggs, had a few broken ones...and let the rest sit overnight. I'll put them in the bator when I get home from work.
This is one of my "ordering" nightmares. I would like to order chicks but am not until Mid May early June! Hopefully be more warm in case there is a mix up. Sorry some of the eggs got shaken and broke.

I believe my hatch is done...no more pips, today is day 24.
5 in brooder are doing well with their pseudo heat plate.
2 in bator, 1 hatched late yesterday looking good so will leave it there until this afternoon. 1 has a funky leg, looks like a hip problem and will examine and maybe have to cull later today.

Yea for babies. Sorry aart about your eggs wild trip. I've been lucky that my po is good about calling me. And giving me tips on incubating even. Lol. Hopefully they turn out good for ya. I just set a batch of salmon favs last night. Silkie eggs coming Friday and next week. Barred rock coming the week after that. Busy month and half coming up. :)

That's was Matt's wild shipped eggs trip.

Sorry. You all look alike on here. :) congrats on your hatch aart and jackie. Matt sorry about the wild egg trip. Aart the one chick I thought I was going to have to cull because of leg issues I left in bator till Monday night. Went home Monday night still pushing itself around on side so take it out to do the cull and was loving on it. It pushed against my hand and legs felt really strong so I did that a couple more times then put in brooder. Couldn't tell it apart from others in morning. Almost like a little physical therapy helped.

Boy o boy matt sounds like ya was a lil frustrated and dont blame ya at all.

I will be shippin eggs in to but wait till its warmer out.

K jorey! Whats ur final count? Pics? ;)

Thanks naglady, but I guess I wont be getting any chickens. Your the only words I got in two weeks. Oh well, probably for the best.
Your words are important, hope you can stick around, i dont always post and some days i dont even get on here.. and if i miss some days, i sometimes will skim over the pages i miss and sometimes not... wish you would give it some more time and see.. if you want to get chickens you should.. dont base it on a forum of people..chickens are alot of fun and they are pretty enjoyable..

@mattsinger the po can be frustrating.. just let your eggs set out on counter 24 hrs b4 you set them.

Jackie how eggciting, hope you have a great hatch..

@aart congrats on your hatch.. i had to cull a chick on the first hatch because hip, both legs where stuck up against the body.. never easy to do..

no problem.....I have been messing with the lame chick trying to see what was wrong and just moving the leg around, see if it might resolve...will continue that today.
