This is a great thread, Gladahmae!  Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Is there a way you can post a "sticky" here showing people willing to be contacted to sell their chicks/eggs/adults of specific breeds?

Hi everyone! Good idea! I have two empty incubators. I'm not ready to hatch my own eggs yet, but would be willing to try to hatch some out for someone else.
I can't seem to find the eggs I am looking for without paying an arm and leg. Or being shipped.
Read so many post if of "if I were closer, I could get them". Be it eggs or birds a relay chain in Mi. would be nice.
If any is interested in me hatching their rggs PM me.

Quote: Rusty, this is another great idea! Sharing incubators with people in close proximity. DH convinced me yesterday afternoon that we needed an incubator since our flock is not quite one year old and we have no idea who if any will brood. We are going to dive head first into breeding Silver Pencil Iowa Blue chickens and since we are starting with a small number, we needed incubator to hatch the eggs.
What is great of our location is we are near Lansing so pretty much any point in mid Michigan to the border or both lakes is accessible to meet up to swap/gather hatching eggs. Meeting makes it great too.

Everyone should check out the Michigan Chickenstock on June 21 in Lansing because there is a buy/sell/trade thread to use and also people bring chicks/eggs/adult birds to that as well

. It goes from 10 am to 3pm and the speaker is Dr. Fulton of the MSU Vet clinic, huge expert on poultry! Super excited about that!! He will start at 10am. There is a potluck thread to bring a dish to pass as well if you are so inclined.

23 eggs set in incubator....only 5 for sure didn't get too cold and are most probably fertile....the rest are a crap shoot regarding both freezing and fertility.
A lot of them won't be easy to candle for development....hope there's no exploding stinkers in there!

Did a day 7 candling tonite, could 'see' more than my first hatch at day 7.
Saw a lot of veining, a few 'blobs' and in one even movement!
Was very glad to see that most of the blue eggs were pretty easy to see into.
I was pleasantly surprised too see so much veining, thought the cold was going to stump us.
Definitely feeling encouraged!
