Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

Pics
Im on budget plan so pay the same every month untill a yrly adjustment.

But yep...
House
Heated bucket
3 brooder lamps
1 bator
Radio in barn for bunnies and chickens to listen too

My horses drink from 5 gallon buckets so no heating there so that helps and chickens drink from bowl. I give fresh water to them everyday.

Candled again tonite....day 14.... 7 movers for sure, 5 definite clears, and a bunch of ??'s, just can't see.....7 more days!

When I candle mine, I have 14 of the 16 I can't see through (I don't have a strong flashlight, on my to-get list) and two that I can see through with the yolk at the air cell. They were set on 2/21 - so this is day 9. I am assuming the ones with the air cells and that I can't see through are happening? Got to get that darned flashlight....

Hahaha on the radio! The only time I turn mine on (except when I am out there cleaning stalls) is when two years in a row skunks thought they could move in. My horses have the 5 gallon buckets, too, but they freeze overnight when it drops into the 20's.

Air cell growth is not progressing as much as my first hatch and weight reduction not as consistent (might be the scale is screwy) despite very low and inconsistent humidity 0-40% has me concerned....only time will tell.

aart i alway dry hatch, and low humidity is how i get good hatches, just bring it up when they start pipping.. good luck.

I use a strand of christmas lights and heated water bucket in my outside coop and had no decrease in laying from my hens this winter.. i am still getting a good number of eggs. i get 9-10 eggs a day out of 11 hens.. even my brooder in the house i use a 60w bulb.. and last year i used a 15w bulb in my coop instead of xmas lights. and still got a good amount of eggs.. lowering the wattage i am sure can help save on electric bill, its the lighting not the heat that keep them laying..

peepchicken sorry to hear about your chicken.
