Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

Pics
Thanks guys. Part of raising chickens right? The worst part but still part of it. Time to think ahead. I still have the 5 I hatched in january in tje house and have emails into the people my original flock came from looking for eggs and chicks. So plans will be just set back a year. Life.
are you looking to replace them with anything specific? same breeds?

@mattsinger same breeds. I'm just waiting to hear back from a couple people I got my originals from and i' ll go from there. I do have 3 eggs from my original flock in bator that are developing good so hopefully I'll get those 3 to hatch. Getting chicks or eggs gives me time to go over coop with a fine tooth comb and fix all problems I find. Also time to catch the thing that did this. Heading out to set live trap for tonight. Once again thanks everyone for the condolences(sp).

aart I have a whole empty coop i plan on putting chicks in when they are ready to go outside.. and yes you can integrate 6 wk old chicks with new ones.. just do it slowly. or put a divider for a day or so between them. so they get used to each other.. they integrate better then adult chickens.

Jorey and mattsinger come on chickies..

jorey so sorry about your flock. get a trap set tonight.. and put cat food in it.. you should catch something....

here is pictures of my chicks.. i am down to 5..
6 went to new home and 1 died 2 days ago..

@aart no I'm not sure. One board was partway torn off so not very big opening. I figure coon or weasel type animal. Fence was all good. I have geese and a duck that free range and lije to hang around coop so foot prints were gone. Board is all scratched up on corner. Not chewed but scratched. I'll just catch and dispose of everything I catch and I think I'm going to wrap coop in wire and I think i' ll be good.

oh no!
I HATE HATE HATE predators and take care of lots of them round here. I get them before they get my birds now! Hehehehe!

Oh no so sorry to hear about your flock :( the predators have been so bad the past few days. I saw a lot of raccoons scavenging on the side of the road today. I think it has something to do with the warming up. :/
