Pics
@ aart and mattsinger, congrats on all the chicks guys. Yea! As i' m putting mine in dog cage brooder tomorrow I'll get final count for my hatch. And pics to post.

OK experts...I need a little help.....
So with this last hatch, I know I had a couple Marans/blue Orp mixes. I thought (for some reason) it would be easy to distinguish the two when they hatch. Now I have them hatched and finding it difficult to tell the two apart from each other.

Any ideas?
thanks
Matt

The only thing I can think of would be leg color, and even that won't help for a few weeks.

The amount of leg feathering? I would assume the mixes would have less feathers.

Side pipper made it out after a rather strange inconsistent zipping....I was all set up to 'help', but it continued to show activity and progress.

Fascinating to watch, hard but satisfying to be patient and let things be as they may.

So 4 hatched, 2 pips as of early this morning but no real further progress, and 8 with no visible action yet.

@aart & Mattsinger congrats on the chicks..

Mattsinger maybe you can wait till the chicks are older to decide whats what.. other then that leg coloring..

delawares are sweet docile birds and also good layers..of big eggs to.. loved my delawares that i had.
