Such cute chixks everyone. Put 2 of my only homegrown silkie eggs in lockdown this morning. Candeled and everything looks good to go with them.

Congrats to everyone so far! My eggs are on day 20 and I'm hearing some peeping this morning

Woo! Love hearing the peeps, won't be long now...someone has definitely gotten their beak out enough to make some noise! Come on chickies!!

Awww...I should get a silkie someday. My mother loves them and wants me to get one. I would only get a couple due to their broody behaviors though. I worry they would be defeathered by my other more bully birds (ahem RSL's are bossy ladies).

Well my husband put the stop on me setting eggs while we're gone because "we don't know what will happen to them."

well *I* know what will happen! They'll sit in the turner and turn. and if something breaks or doesn't work oh well. Uuuuugh. I won't have chicks until mid-may at this point!

Well..... I guess the only real risk about leaving them while on vacation might be an exploding stinker....do you have a chicken sitter for your flock while you're gone, maybe they could look in on the bator too?

Yeah, we have a house/dog/chicken sitter coming. I think my husband is really just afraid of how many I want to hatch this year.
