Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

Pics
here is the picture of my integrated brooder, the box i used was like 4ft x 4ft and the sides are like 2ft.. the chicks when i first left them in they would hide behind the big feeder in the corner and it seemed to work well..

the big ones are around 6 wks, and the little ones are around 2 wks.. hopefully this is the last integration... i hope to be able to sell the ones i hatch from now on..

@rchd those are some cute chicks.. love the coloring

your welcome lazygardner- i agree.. everyone does it different, and this is what worked for me this time.. last year i think i used a screen between the old and young chicks and then after a wk i removed the screen.. i didnt feel like getting the screen out of the shed with all the snow.. so thats why i did it this way ..

Good to see.......I put one 2 week old and one 3 week old in with six 1 week olds with no problem.

Then 2nd week in April, I'll be adding four 1 to 3 day olds, think I'm going to use a screen to divide the refrigerator box brooder for a few days.

So, what will the age spread be when you add the babies? 6 weeks? Please keep us posted. Thanks. You know those expandable window screens they sell at Lowes? The ones you prop in the lower half of a window, and close the top sash down on it? Those would make wonderful temporary dividers.

Yep, it will be a 3, 5 and 6 week age range. Yikes, we shall see.

Expandable window screen would be a good concept......but the cross section of box is 32 x 32, I'll probably just build something with cardboard and hardware cloth.

6 chicks born out of 40 so far! Today is day 21!
All blk or blue mottleds! So much for calicos as of yet! And now SO GLAD i found my mottled roo Eddi a new home!

However, I got a hold of the breeder down south with the calicos I got from last yr, and put in a order for 2 doz eggs so some new calico cochins should be on their way soon and after that, my hatchin season will be done!

Come on baby chicks! HATCH! and with color! LOL!
