Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

Pics
Well they're all in cooking now. As much as I want to have a good hatch, if I have 100% hatch (not counting on that) I'll have over 100 chicks if you include the 6 we bought and all the meat chicks. Good gracious. I didn't think about THAT.

Come on chickies

yeah. 109 if everything I set hatches. I'm not 100% sure if my silkie cockerels are doing their job, although there are THREE of them in there, so hopefully there's enough competition to ensure that the eggs are fertile. I'm really hoping that I have blue partridge (I have 2 BP cockerels) over blue partridge (1 BP pullet) and end up with some SPLASH. Loooooove splash coloring. I think I have 12 or 14 silkie eggs, close to the same of what should be black/blue sexlinks, close to that many ameraucana pullets under a barred black sex-link cockerel, and about 5 of my BLRWs under the same sex-link cockerel (small chance for barred/laced offspring). I calibrated the aquarium thermometer against a jar full of snow.

Manually turning eggs would drive me bonkers. I'm obsessive enough as it is! I'm sure that would push me right over the edge!

Day 3 here. Seriously? THREE?! It's going to be a looooooong 21 days. Although, now that I'm pretty sure I have the temperature dialed in all the way, I can stop checking on it 5x a day to make sure it isn't low, or spiking or whatever. No candling for another week. THAT'S when we'll see if the boys are doing there job. Could end up tossing 1/4 of the eggs in there if the silkies haven't figured things out yet. I'm pretty sure everything else has had a bullseye, and the girls are looking a bit rough now that "spring" has kind of arrived.

Well the 10 Muscovy eggs I had in my bator were a total bust. They all developed and then started dying less than a week before the hatch date. I'm never doing waterfowl eggs in a bator ever again. I've had almost perfect chicken/turkey egg hatches. There is only one egg left in the bator, he was alive before I left for work but he'll probably be dead when I get home :hit

Sorry about your scovies :hit

Peep, has laid 4 eggs since when we got her Sunday, she was with lots of other Roos. Possibly I will throw them in the bator. But it's good to know she's not stressed where she doesn't lay.
