Hope that little duckling perks up soon! And that you can find him a friend or 2.

Dry hatching made a HUGE difference for us. HUGE. Hope you have a good hatch!

Picked up the coop from BIL's house today and DH and I managed to get it off the trailer on into position on the blocks ourselves! It needs a THOROUGH cleaning and it'll be ready for birdies! Need to find a day I can get down to wynette's to pick up a bird from her (which is about a 3 hour drive one way) SOON. Maybe next week, and THEN I can start my olive egger project! Timing should be pretty good for him to be through quarantine and get the ladies I have lined up from him to get "clear" and set eggs a couple of weeks after the ones cooking hatch out.

Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle. Day 5 is too early to candle.

Alright so I candled. And everything looked GREAT except for 2 silkie eggs that had blood rings, and those were the ones I wasn't sure if the boys had figured things out yet or not. Apparently they HAVE because the other 10 silkie eggs looked GREAT. We checked all of the silkie eggs and just a few here and there of the others. If these numbers hold, we'll be looking at a great hatch! OH, AND most exciting of all for me, my one mottled houdan hen's egg that we got during the week we collected is looking excellent!

In good/other news, DH says we need more speckled sussex birds. I've got a hankering for some swedish flower hens (especially the blue and black varieties) that I might have to find/buy/put in once this hatch is done!
