Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Reminds me of when my husband and I were building our coop (double walls with insulation, built sturdier than our house) and the door slammed shut on us without any way to get out from the inside. Luckily we had a rake on the inside that we could stick out the chicken door and open the latch. I would have been mad if we'd had to break a window on our new coop right away. :D Lesson learned.
Erm. Yeah. I may or may not have had to use my right foot to "open" the door. Of COURSE, I hadn't taken my phone out with me, or I could have just called my husband. Or if I had even HEARD my husband get home from playing basketball at the gym....he was looking for me and didn't know where I was until he heard me beating my foot into the door. I bent the latch just enough to get my hand out and flip the latch. No structural damage done.

ETA:
Does anyone within about an hour drive of the Traverse City-ish area have Speckled, Light, or Cornation Sussex eggs? Or some nice color Marans eggs? Or silkies? Or Partridge or Silver Pencilled Rock eggs? We're doing a test-hatch with a new roo in about 2 weeks and I'm interested in any of those types, or an assortment of a few or each? Might as well mostly-fill the incubator if I'm going to bother having it plugged in for 3 weeks!

So the better question is who hasn't been locked in the coop or run because I know I'm guilty - more than once. I'm just glad the first time was before we put the netting over the run because at least I only had to climb the 6' stockade fence to get out.

Not me!! cause mine has a latch inside!.......... however, when I was building the addition for the goat house..... I built myself into the locked turkey run, now that is some talent right there!

We have LOTs of trees for shade........ does Star use them....NOoooooooooo.... she has to dump the wheelbarrow and lay in that. Next thing you know miss princess will want a hammock and 24 hr wait staff!. Nice to see little Cas allowed in her presence though.

the stairs behind the shed, were to the back patio door..... the boys were using the glass as a battering ram..... Until the pasture is finished, we had to pull the stairs off the back of the house!

They are so funny, always into something...

I posted this in the breed guess section but was hoping you guys may be able to help me too.

I got these chicks from a friend's extras not knowing what they are. They're almost 3 weeks old and all I can come up with is BSL since the hatchery supposedly doesn't carry giants or australorps. The first chick has gotten larger, more feathers and a bigger comb then the second which is making me really wonder if they are a breed not listed on their website. Any ideas?

Chick 1

Chick 2
