Never a fun time Sam... I had the same problem with my best turkey hen. As soon as I discovered the problem I grabbed the .22 and ... well you know the rest of the story.
LOL Tap. I have the same problem... might be an upper arm strength issue. I left a rude rooster in a worse state once trying dislocation so I won't do that again. Hope your DH's surgery goes well.
I decided to treat the chicks for coccidia. Gave the sickest chicks a few drops by beak so they were sure to get some. This morning, no more losses and all wet butts are dry and they seem more chipper. I will be running to TSC to pick up more waterers to provide electrolites and probiotics in addition to the coccidia treatment water. Keeping fingers crossed.
