Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi there Michigan BYCers! I'm driving from southern Ontario to the Lansing Chickenstock in June! I've already reserved some eggs, but I'll be on the look-out for more! I don't know what to expect of this chickenstock, I've never been to an American one before. Based on past years, what can I expect? Tips/Tricks experiences?

I can only buy hatching eggs, as I cannot pass the border with hens or chicks! I'm interested in the following breeds, (Especially Breeds that are hard to find in Canada!):

Marans (Blue Copper, White, Golden Cuckoo, BBS Splash)
Orpingtons (BBS, Lemon Cuckoo, Red, Gold Laced, Lavender etc)
Wyandottes (BLRW, GLW, other)
Bearded Silkies (Colourful, Unique lines)
Standard Polish (Crele, Tolbunt, Laced, Mixed)*
Frizzle/Frizzle Mixes
Barnevelders
Icelandic/Viking Hens*
Light or Speckled Sussex
German Line New Hampshires
Swedish Flower Hens*

havent been on here much the last week..
Happy Memorial Day to everyone..

sorry about your dog tap.

opa we got quit a few morels the other week.. almost a big brown grocery bag full.. we had venison with our morels minus the asparagus.

Hello OrchidCanoe, I will contact the guy that bought my German New Hampshires and see if he is coming. Maybe he will be able to bring some eggs for you.

I found some morels today in our yard right by the elderberry bush. DH will be having them with breakfast.

Tap, so sorry about your dog

Ok thanks Hillbilly Hen! Do you have pictures of those birds? I've been looking for some nice German New Hampshires for a long time!

Orchidcanoe- I have a naked neck (NN) silver barred frizzle that is mated with a partridge silkie roo = possible NN Sizzles
She lays a beautiful sky blue egg.

I have a pair of the eggs under my broody right now
Not sure what the babies will look like, but if you are interested I can save you some of her eggs
(If she doesn't get broody on me again before CS)

I just heard back from the guy that bought mine and he will not be able to make it , sorry. However have you checked out the German New Hampshire thread? I got mine from kathyinmo and she has some absolutely beautiful birds. I no longer have any of my pics of the GNH's.

Anyone remember this pile of wood that I got in January? It was one honey locust tree.
It has finally been cut, split and stacked for next season. Even the brush has been run through the chipper and spread in the old chicken run.
The brush chips will form the foundation for a Hugel bed and a mushroom plot.

The firewood is 108' long, stacked 6 foot high on one side fence and 80' long, 4 foot high on the back fence.

No wonder my back hurts.
