Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Maybe a strawberry would soak up the medicine? I have a recipe for vodka infused strawberries. Same idea, right?

Nova, I'm sorry.

I think Bumblefoot is gone. I'm going to continue foot soaks for the next few days, but we have way healthier looking feet, with no black scabs.

Our girls are enjoying the plumbs that the squirrels are knocking to the ground. They're just starting to ripen. Hoping we get a few this year.

Thanks all!

Welcome to the club! Cindy and I are off to Boston to see ours next week and then he'll be out later in August for some Pop Pop and Grammy time. How's the hummer's? Are you finally getting the rain we are - I think it's been about 3 weeks without water! So, congrats and hope to see you soon! John and Cindy,
The hummers are increasing in numbers. I am making the hummingbird food by the gallon now. You should bring Cindy by so she can see them. It has been a slow rain most of the day. That's fine as we need it and we are able to get some inside chores done. Have a safe trip to Boston.

HH, do the hummingbirds like their feeders in the open, or in a more protected spot? I've had mine in a tree, and I don't think it's been touched all summer. I'd really like to draw some birds our way. I've seen them in our neighborhood in years past.

I have a wrap-around covered deck....I hang them from the eave, so technically they are out in the open. Sometimes there will be 2 or 3 at the same time feeding out one feeder.

There have been times when I have been standing out back on the deck (where I don't have a feeder) & literally had a humming bird come buzzing right up to my nose (whenever it happens I think it is one of those mutant bees that we have here in Michigan that sound like 747s :D)

Don't get your Tylan and vodka strawberries mixed up. Omg. Drunken chickens would be pretty funny though.

I'm amazed you get more than one at a time. I've got two feeders and if there's more than one they chase each other off sparring.
