Ah, yes..that always seems to be the issue, eh? Luckily I am only 2 miles from Munsells! As I offered gaitngirl, if you drop them off, but can't pick up same day, I can get them for you & keep in my deep freeze til you can come get/meet to get.

yesterday evening i was sitting on the couch looking out the window at my back yard where the hens and pullets were free ranging and was once again surprised by how much i enjoy having them. there were even any especially funny antics, they were just wondering back and forth from the crab apple trees to the blue spruce they spend so much time under. but they are great to watch no matter what.

my DH decided the other day that the chickens have a symbiotic relationship with the blue spruce. it is much healthier this year than it was when we bought the house last year, and we figure having the birds under it eating all the bugs and supplying plenty of nitrogen around its base is making a lot of the difference. and the chickens spend almost more time there than they do in the coop, especially when they feel the need to hide. i just hope there aren't any eggs under it right now, the base of the tree is full enough i don't know that i would ever find them.

When I was a child it was illegal to sell margarine that was yellow. It came with a capsule of dye that allowed the consumer to color it themselves. The purpose was to prevent people for misrepresenting it as butter. I wonder why something similar wasn't put in place to prevent people from serving a decaffeinated swill and calling it coffee? Drinking that brown stained water always leaves me thinking why bother.
My mother and aunt tell about getting white margarine with the dye capsule to mix in. They always saved the dye capsules to use to tint frostings for birthday cakes.

Whew! It has been a busy summer and looking to be a even busier fall. We have a broody guinea

Really, she couldn't have decided to do this in say, June...she has to wait until September !?! She has been pretty diligent about sitting on the nest so far, she does leave it in the morning to get food and water but then right back on it. The kids are super excited to see if they will actually hatch. I am guessing that we are going to need to get busy with another coop. DH was also able to pick up a brand new rabbit hutch for next to nothing. DD has been offered a polish from a member of our 4H club who had graduated. Yep, while everyone else is downsizing for winter, we are adding to the troops.....

we're adding too. not much, but adding just the same. We set eggs from Brethren last friday, so NEXT weekend we should have lots of little chickies running around to figure out what to do with. The *plan* is to just keep a few and sell/give away the rest.....we will see how that all works out.

This is my first time. I am a total noob.
I got batteries for the hygrometer so now I can watch the humidity until hatch day.
I forgot to candle the eggs, is it too late? Today is day 17/18.

Ooh can't wait to see pics, and can't wait to see what you are selling! We have just started our coop and still looking for a few more to add in :)
