Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Would love to see some pictures of the new "children" gaitn
I'll try to get a couple pics this weekend. They are all hiding right now - it was a long day, confined in a crate. They weren't socialized much where they came from but a couple of others that I got from this lady awhile back (she has A LOT of chickens, lol) have become less timid with the help of meal worms. When they see me bring the little dish I use for live mealies they are at my feet begging, lol. My timid little Salmon Favie will actually peck at my shoes or boots impatiently if I don't open the dish fast enough. The new girls weren't too sure about fermented feed, either. One bite changed that for 2 of them - they dove in face first.

This has NOTHING to do with chickens, but I'm wondering if anyone here would be interested in a pure breed English Mastiff? We have a beautiful well behaved 3 year old male.
My son was at a friends house on New Year's Eve this past year (9 months ago) and the friends dog attacked his face. He almost took his nose entirely off. They were able to reattach and graft so he looks pretty good now. The physical scar is pretty bad and will need more repair as time goes on. The emotional scar it has left is nearly as bad. Not just for him, but the entire family.
My dog had nothing to do with this attack, its simply the fact that he is a large dog that is difficult for us.
We will keep him and love him if we don't find a good home, but after much discussion we are asking around if anyone is looking for this kind of dog. He is great with kids, and chickens. He has never gone after our chickens or ducks.
Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks!

I'm so sorry about your son! That's a horrific experience. What's your dog's name and how much does he weigh?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good (but not too expensive) coop cam? I would like to figure out who is laying what color egg . . . or who is laying period! I have a really good internet connection (cable) and would probably prefer wireless.

We call him Doopers. His real name is Duke, but he's kind of dopey and has big floppy ears. When we call him he just doo doo doo comes. My 4 year old has a speech impediment and can't say "k" sounds and used "p" in its place. So she called him Dupe, and it fits him much better then Duke.
He is about 200 pounds. Maybe more.

I just saw this post. I'm so sorry! Is your son able to interact okay with your dog still? Has his behavior (regarding your own dog) changed since the incident? If he was close to him, it may still work out . . . It's such a hard decision to part with a family pet. I hope it works out for all of you :(.

Pictures.
400

I've never successfully posted a picture here before.
This is Dupe. Next to table so you can see how big he is...

He is in counseling for it. He is doing ok, nightmares still occur. My dog is very friendly, and in your face a little (looking for love) which is a problem with him...

Gaitingirl,
We got a webcam on amazon for pretty cheap, but its not classified as a coop camera... I don't know if that helps?

Gatingirl: Walmart has some outdoor cams that might be good . I looked at a couple but haven't decided yet.

Deannag1160: as much as I would love to have such a sweet looking dog, I would probably have to find Duke and me a new home if I were to drive up there and get him. But he looks so cute and sweet he would be very hard to resist. I could share this on Facebook (my posts can only be seen by family and friends no strangers) if that's ok with you, no names of course just the short story and see if anyone I know would love to have Duke. And then pass any info on to friends or family as you would like or not. Just let me know. I wouldn't put out there unless ok with you
