Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

thanks holly
I'm gonna see if I can find that post. Gotta figure out how deep. when I worked in the clinic our doggies potty area was sand but it was deep 6 -12 inches and hard to walk on especially if you were supporting a dog that couldn't walk.

congratulations!! a wonderful article

love the hat, very nicely done

the fulture art work is awesome !!

I love watching the vultures, wish they ate bees

sand may be rather cold for a winter run, Farmer boy has it though and I think he likes it very well

Be careful, chicken friends. Coyotes are on the rise in Genesee county. Put you kitties and little dogs in at night. Lock your chickens up tight at night.

Alrighty. I need some coop advice. We bought BIL's coop (well....will be buying it when DH gets paid again) and I need to decide where to put it. There are a couple of factors at play here. On the one hand, we've kept the fencing in line with the line of the house going North/South to keep a 'clean' look instead of just having runs and coops sprawling all over the place. On the other hand, I very much dislike that I cannot see the run on the south side of the big coop from the house. We're right in the middle of 10 acres, so I can really put it anywhere I want, but for practical purposes, I'd like it to be somewhat near the other coops as that is where we store feed, egg cartons, and have power for things such as heaters for water in the winter.

This is kind of the layout we have right now. behind (above in the picture) the house/garden/runs is the fenced in back yard for the dogs. It goes from the left back corner of the house all the way to the 2nd coop, so placing that direction isn't an option.

I think that looks nice Glad. Are the 2 coops in the pic existing, or does that include the new? If you need to add a 3rd, could you put it at a L shape toward the front ( as in- kind of perpendicular to the text in the image, but out in front of the coops)? Too much coffee today, not sure if I'm explaining myself at all.

Tap- I think that is a lovely article. Hopefully you can get more great publicity for poultry in MI! :)

yes. those are the 2 i already have (plus the meat tractors, but those can't be used for winter without a lot of added modification and cost). I was thinking the same thing.....

Great Minds think Alike :)

I'm planning a rotating pasture fence. One large triangle, subdivided into 2 smaller triangle on the left & right, rectangle in the center of those. Need cheap/low cost fencing tho. Have logs that I can use as posts, still working on the fence. :)
