Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I've named a few but generally don't bother. Here 'chick chick' seems to work for all of them. LOL!

So far I have 4 of the 20 named.. I want to name my yoko/pheonix cross but he hasn't told me what it is yet.

I blew my back out so bad at work yesterday I laid on my office floor for a while and then ended up having to get two guys to help me finish building the cubicle offices I have to get done. I actually work with some great people so that makes it nice. I hope DH can get me in with his chiropractor today to see if we can get it straightened out. Its right at the bottom of my spine so it's hard to sit or bend over or stand up or walk... lol!. Not sure what this is going to mean for deer season this year... but I'm going even if I have to crawl! From now on, I think I'll have to hire the work done. Not going to go through this again!
Raz, I'll adopt you, we need a farm hand! :)

Good luck with your back SC, I do hope your deer season is good.

RaZ have you thought about being a "Traveling" ranch hand. It looks like everyone here would love to adopt you! Here too! But we're not in MI yet, and I am afraid we aren't any warmer than you are now, well maybe by 2 or 3 degrees, but that's it!

Actually, they got more snow than we did in NC so all you people wanting to move south... go right ahead, lol! Okay, so it was probably a one off but still. Just sayin'.

I was both excited and disappointed this morning to hear on the news that Neil Degrass Tyson is speaking in Allendale this evening. I wasn't aware of it though and now it's sold out. Even with the late notice I would have gone. But no tickets, no entry. My entire family would have enjoyed it too. Biggest bummer this week aside from getting a head cold.

Hopefully he comes around again and I actually get word of it before it's too late.

No noteworthy chicken news except that I'm almost ready to put them in the new coop, even though we're still working on the roofing. It's just a matter of finding time at night (the easiest time to move them) to set up two ladders, one in each coop to transplant them from their high roosts....and make a lot of trips. My chickens sleep in the rafters where I can't reach but I don't mind because if anything ever gets in the coop it would be difficult to get to them.

We are switching over to natural gas from propane. The bad news, we just got a new water heater last month! Now we have to get another new one. We gave to concert out stove and anything on propane.

Good news, won't have have to spend so much money each month. More money for the chickens to enjoy their treats! Lol
Most everything can be converted to NG from Propane. You should look into that. Much cheaper?

You are the first person I have ever known who has heard of him. He's such a great speaker. I hope he comes to our area; so far I've only seen him via YouTube on "The Amazing Meeting".

I can sympathize with back going out. It's worse when it happens suddenly.
When do I move in?

On the other hand, being a traveling hand could be fun. A different couch to sleep on every night. A different gourmet meal every day. I hear that TC serves her help fresh Dungeness crab and venison.

I can prioritize my travels based on the CS food list.

The stove is SO old, we have only found a converter for one burner, making our stove useless. Besides, the new stove will be stainless steel, which will match our fridge and microwave. As for the other stuff, it's easier to get a whole new one.

I was raised by science teachers for parents, and PBS. Par for the course. He is a good speaker and a great advocate for science. He and Bill Nye are good people. I just found the Michigan Center for Inquiry on FB so I shouldn't miss such opportunities in the future. Still bummed about today though.
