Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Must say. I am somewhat agitated. On leave all this week. This is normally the week I do a majority of my XMAS cookie baking (I do a ton) & get my XMAS stuff up in the house. I have had ZERO motivation. This cold weather has got me down more than normal (baking is normally my solace for everything); I really need a trip somewhere warm after the New Year..or do like some of you have mentioned, at least start tanning a few times per week; maybe that'll help. Until reading some of the posts here, I didn't realize that maybe part of my attitude problem during winter may be a vitamin D issue (just had blood work & will see Doc on 6 Dec, also will find out if I am anemic).

So, finally decide I would get some of the decorations up & the tree. I have a cheap 6' pre-lit tree I bought 5 years ago when I first bought my house after my divorce, just to have something. Put the darn thing up & all but ONE string of the lights is out. I have strings of lights, so I can improvise; but stringing lights on a tree is the only thing about decorating a tree I DON'T enjoy (hence why I bought a pre-lit).

At the moment I am back on my chair with my feet up just staring at it 1/4 lit & growling...

Thanks for the info but she is already gone.

Amy, that place looks awesome. DH would love it, even though he's a software engineer. I had heard of one opening in Detroit but didn't know there was something similar here. I might get in contact, just for fun. If nothing else, for the sake of the robotics team.
Aw, I'm sorry she didn't make it.

The outside of the Geek Group building always makes me want to stop and check it out.

Go read up on Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It's gaining scientific acceptance as a true disorder. We get so few sunny days in Michigan, there are plenty of folks around who are affected.

My own happy light is this one: http://www.joann.com/happylight-compact-energy-lamp/11662129.html
It comes in at the low end of the suggested lumens, but the price was right, and I have the time to soak it up.

I did read about SAD many years ago, &'pretty much figured that I was slightly affected by lack of sunlight. It just seems every year I tolerate the cold less & definitely become more lethargic (like in bed at 18:00!!!). Maybe it gets worse with age.....will see what Doc says, I know he specifically asked for a Vitamin D check with the blood work. .

On a happy "tree" note...at least I can enjoy my tree skirt that I made (which took many, many hours). Also have made several wall hangings, our stockings (May make an album later under my profile & load some pix of those ) :D

Bucilla kit. Working on the matching wall hanging wreath & also have the matching stocking to make.

First have to finish this one .. Only a few more things to add to the letters ..

A few of the others I've done in the last few years (all Bucilla). In my family we have always done "homemade" stockings...
