Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thanks for all the compliments on the wall hangings, stockings, tree skirt. They take MANY, MANY hours to make; lots of embroidery, beading, but I love it. Fun stuff to do while sitting by the fire (especially when processing canned goods). Gives a sense of accomplishment. I am jealous of all the knitters out there, but figure I could probably learn that & add to my "creative" side.

This is the first one I ever did (35 years ago when I was 12y.o.). My gram liked it so much, I gave it to her for XMAS. Got it back after she passed...

PK, your Christmas decor is beautiful! We all have our talents and you should be proud of yours! We can't do it all even tho we sometimes would like to. I always admire the different talents of people able to do magic with their hands.

I would encourage all of you to learn knitting, it's a fun stress relieving activity for me and I'm sure you'll all make great things. With YouTube you can do everything!

Happy Thanksgiving.

That's kind of what I figured about knitting. I know that doing the wall hangings is a huge stress reliever/relaxer for me. My mom knits & has made some beautiful afghans.

But I think it would be way cool to make a cable knit sweater myself (besides being able to wear my cool boots, cable knit sweaters are probably the only other thing I like about winter).

So, my birds are wimps. Kind of the first dusting of snow where I have been home to let them free range. Opened the door and where they normally are jumping over each other to get out, they started, then just kind of stopped. Blackie (EE roo) was first to venture out & run to under the deck. One of the PRs came out & flew to jump on his back so she wouldn't have to touch the snow. In the end, they spent time running around the yard, but mostly where the sun had melted the snow. All in all was pretty amusing :D

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and this year I am reminded that I need to be especially thankful. While not happy about the situation I have found myself in, when I think about the potentially fatal outcome of this infection, I am extremely thankful that they caught it in time to put me on the necessary antibiotics to combat it.

In an earlier post I read about someone using hot water to thaw a frozen bird. That probably isn't the best idea. Placing the bird in a pan of cold water, with the faucet running slowly to keep the water exchange occurring, is a very effective method. Much safer than letting the bird thaw at room temperature. Even though the water is cold a temperature transfer occurs thereby defrosting the bird.

I too find myself especially thankful this year. All of the usual things to be thankful for come to mind now, but when one faces the grim reaper
and knows it and draws back from that "bright light ", thanksgiving takes on a whole new dimension. Enjoy this special day and bring joy to others.

I wonder how many of us saw the beaytiful double rainbow ? I think it was last week. I had never seen one prior to that one.

BTW Great picture of the bow and barn. Thanks.
