Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My family is in Germany for the holidays. But I don't get to be alone during it. I work, so I can spend it with the residents at the nursing home I am a CNA at. Of course, it'll be business as usual, with them getting a Thanksgiving meal as opposed to a usual one.

I actually wasn't supposed to work, but I took the day for a coworker. He has family from out of town, and my family isn't in town, so it made a good swap. Can't argue with time and a half, either!

I baked a pecan pie to share with my coworkers. Not sure if anyone else is bringing any treats, but at least we get this one!

I believe those who have a positive outlook on life have positive things happen in their lives. Even not so good days are there to teach us a lesson. Negative, comes back at you also. I thank God everyday for all my blessings for I have many. Smile and good things happen.

Happy Thanksgiving. Hope all of you have a good day.

Happy thanksgiving!

Be safe out there. Not keen on the stores doing the shopping thing today. I usually try to stay off the road in the madness.

I wanted to ask- is the aqua scaping real? It is stunning and almost makes me want fish.
Yes.. apparently there are huge competitions and it's quite a hobby... most of them use 20-30 gallon tanks. They're pretty involved as I've been surfing on it for a few days. Though most of the things you have to manage as you would having just a fish tank with water quality... the plants take it to a whole new level. Pumping CO2 in the water, lighting etc. I may do something on a more simple scale... using rocks and stumps and a few plants.

That was nice, Tap, I am certainly thankful to be surrounded by my beloved family, and despite our losses this year we are thankful that those that are gone were here for us to enjoy.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Turkey Day! We had a lovely time with our families, and the turkey came out great too!

I do, however seem to have some sort of respiratory issue going on in my grow-out coop with at least one bird. Looks like tomorrow I'll be catching birds and dosing with tylan. Not really my idea of a fun time, but I suppose dealing with a flock of flapping birds could end up being as interesting as braving the masses of shoppers.

Some of you might remember that my oldest brother and his wife had lost a baby boy last year on August 13 2012. Well, we got this from them today.

So happy for them!!!

After a fitful night of trying not to itch I decided that it was time to start the day. Each new day has endless opportunities and a good example of the brightness that awaits us was reading about the future addition to Daron's family. Life truly is a wonderful thing.

Our Thanksgiving was especially nice and as always Hope outdid herself with the food. David hunted the morning and then brought our dear farmer friend to join us. For many years he and his brother would join us when we had family get togethers, but when it had seemed that the nephew was stepping up we pulled back so as to not infringe on their family time. When it at last became blatantly apparent that the nephew is truly a jerk we have gone back to including Marvin in our family. He was very happy to be with us and remarked how nice it was to be once again be with his true family. All and all a wonderful day.

Egg production has been abysmal but that is to be expected this time of year. Just one more negative aspect of winter. Yet it the potential for increase gives us hope for the coming spring. Bright days are always just around the corner.
