Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I currently have 21 chickens total, 18 hens, 3 roos.
My goal is 100 this spring!!! My township doesn't like that we have the 21. They really really won't like it when I have 100!
I just need to find an incubator. Im hoping I can get a loaner incubator with an auto turner. They are so expensive!!! I'm hoping to add some silkies as natural incubators for next year.
From what I've read it's nearly impossible to find a loaner/rental incubator, so I'm probably going to have to buy one. Possibly a brisnea?

I had a loaner at one time. Got double usage out of it...it was my first and LAST time for hatching eggs. Never again! Way too much stress for my liking.

RTF: You rock!

Thanks Naglady!

RaZ, You really like to live dangerously! At my house, I delete spam! lol

I was getting average of 10 eggs a day, just got a bunch of buyers this last month, and now... well back to square 1.

I went online ordered some more but the availability for the assortment I want isn't until end of June!

I want them NOW!

I was only getting $2 a dozen around here.

Good news though...I still have 5 today. AND my (former) neighbor, still good friend started raising Silkies Last year and I put my order in for 4 fluffy, fuzzy Silkies.

Chickenwhispers, what's the latest update on your injured?
If I find/buy an incubator would you like me to hatch you some chicks? I have fertile buff orpington eggs available all the time from my own flock. I'm hoping to set eggs beginning of January.

Thanks for asking, I have 5 left. They seem to be doing OK. Eating and drinking. My BO seems to be least injured actually laid an egg this morning. The EE (Actually more OE, but I digress) is busy preening what few feathers she has left on her bare back, but not extremely active other than that and eating. 1 RIR is kind of iffy but she is eating and drinking. My Blue Marans also has a bare back with a not too deep but very large hole/cut on her back with a few smaller bite holes om her side, abdomen. And lastly The other RIR left seems to be doing OK as well, with several bites and most of feathers. All are still getting penicillin injections, which I will plan to continue for a 7 day course just to be sure. I have to get back to the dog warden tomorrow. He said the county will pay "fair market value" for them since they appear to be strays. (A stray carries his own 15 foot chain with him?) Anyway I am trying to "spoil" them with extra heat, extra protein, extra whatever I can think of to make them comfortable for faster healing.

It depends on if I break down and buy an incubator. Then I can hatch anytime for you. If I can find a rental/loaner I will be at the mercy of the owner...

Yep powerbaking here too. Been hung up a little by the need for lemons though and not wanting to drive out on the nasty roads = still snowing here. But I got four batches of various biscotti finished. Need to make some cherry jam, mustard, super-awesome-famous stollen bread still. Also need to felt some goatsmilk soaps. My family loves those.

The driveway got plowed though, thanks to our neighbor. Caught him in the act this morning. I want his "plow".
