Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Yes Kat lives west side of Howell and I'm east of Howell. The media says we received the most with just under 17 inches but at my house if was closer to 20. Then when you add the snow that drifted in it rapidly became rediculous. We have several spots where my two stage snowblower could no longer blow snow over the top of the 5' mounds we had built up. Hope used a shovel to knock the tops off so I could blow it further out from the driveways. One of my drives is 60' long and averages 20' wide. The other drives 12' width runs 100' before it widens out to accomodate parking in front of my shop. A 20'x30' area and a 30'x50' area plus 120' of walkway equals some serious snow removal for this old man.

Kat's house sits a incredibly long distance from the road and I'm sure the drifts that accumulate have got to be monumental. My son lives north of Howell in a very open area. He said that when looking east his wife's car was completely hidden by the massive drifts.

Yikes! That's a lot of space to get cleared!!!

Really need a break from this. Back is killing and pulled a chest muscle. Tryin to keep up with frozen water and playin with the animals to keep them moving around. Even with udder balm, my roo is getting frostbite on the tips of his comb. It's seems so futile to try and keep up with it, just to keep redoing it. Dh still didn't get out for work, got the driveway done, but roads were all blowed in, don't think tom. will be any better. We got 16 1/2in here. They just closed all of Sanilac county and parts of I69. I'm at 69 and Capac and it's closed for 10 car spin out. Anyone tryin to venture out, please be careful. Sry for the losses and sick birds, been so busy outside, got way behind here.

-6 out and I'm really worried that I'm going to have dead birds in the morning. My 6 chicks are dumb, and in the least protected coop. They've been out there for 3 months, but today when I went out (both times) the cockerel is in the shelter and the pullets are roosting on top of it. I put scratch down for everyone again and left all the lights on so if any of them feel the need to get up and move around or eat they can. I did shove all 6 of the chicks into the lighted 'huddle box' and hopefully they have the sense to stay in there. They are the ones I'm worried about. We will know the answer in the morning!

Happy Birthday Lady!

Hi Nova!

I hope you get some kind of answer about your hen Fuzzy.

And welcome new person whose name I can't remember.

Wow......I am at 69 and Riley Cntr....69 is usually so empty even in normal temps...10 car spin out is REALLY bad for that freeway

@fuzzybutt love

fuzzy...this sounds so much like what I was/am going thru with Spaz, who, by the way, IS doing better.
Go to my profile & look at my Spaz album. There is a pic of one of her earlier droppings. She also had some that were just whitish runs.
Symptoms sound similar. Fine one day, lethargic the next, wouldn't eat, would drink, runs.

Alls I did was bring her in the house, and I didn't give any medicine, just vitamins & electrolytes. She was eating fine yesterday. And the first day I didn't have to give her a bath....

So, sorry...

Ok. I am a tad worried about birds...it is just sick cold out there. We just have to make it thru today...

Please, please be careful out there everyone.

Sad news here tonight
My d'uccle girl looks like she's dying. :( I have no idea why, she's been in the house since the beginning of winter.
If its not too late try mixing the crumbles with warm water and offering her the "thick soup" with a spoon. That seems to be all my wry neck silkie chick will eat, but he/she gobbles that. Its been this way a week and doesn't seem to be getting better, I'm afraid i'm going to lose it.
I'm afraid what i'll find tomorrow in the coops its -12º and still dropping. I hate when its this cold.

It was my friend in memphis that let me know on the road conditions, although I'm not going anywhere and she said she's staying home today also. So your only 1 exit up the road, if you ever need anything, just give a holler.

Yep, I'm stuck at home. Ready to LOSE, LOSE my mind. I have got to get out of here before I go stir crazy !! Hope the plow guy can get us dug out today (plus truck should be done this afternoon)

Work today has a 2 hour delay & liberal leave policy in effect. I have opted to telework vs. burning a day of vacation.

Well appears all the birds survived. They aren't moving much at the moment..Bigboy just kinda looked at me & stayed all cuddled up with one of the girls. Can't believe water not frozen. Know the heated waterer is only good down to 0; of course, now that the pen is more like an igloo, it's pretty insulated!!

Stay warm everybody..just another 24-36 hours before our 30+ degree heat wave hits :woot
