Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

question I went out to the coop this AM and on one of my fence posts were the electric wire is attached there is a light flashing, similar to the blink of the electric connection box???

it is slightly under the snow, this should not be right?? I pulled the plug concerned about electric current starting a fire or some thing,,,,,,,, for those that have electric fence is this normal?

mara1 thank you for thinking of the letter carrier,,,,, I used to be one and so many people would shovel the side walk and their drive and not give a second thought to the snow and ice on the front steps, but would they get mad if they didn't get mail because their steps were unsafe...........carriers can get written up for getting hurt because of going to an unsafe area....

I always thought that neighbors helped each other out. Sadly, that isn't the case here in my neighborhood. As I was clearing snow from a neighbor's drive, the woman across the street from there started complaining. Yesterday she threatened to call the cops because the wind was carrying snow across the street into the park.
Today as I was pulling a car out of a snow bank, she came out itching that I was blocking the street.
Some people, eh?

Kudos to everyone who lends a helping hand to neighbors or strangers.

one of these days those people called your neighbors, need a resounding #$%^ and $*(#%@! .... and the high horse you rode over here on........

When I had neighbors like that I rested easier reminding myself that they would die well before I would, not only because they were older but for the stress of their negative thoughts constantly bearing down on them that forces them to act like such imbeciles. That much constant hatred cannot be good for ones health, to be such miserable tosspots.

I feel blessed where I'm at. The couple across the street are about as nice as you could find. When I first moved here we had a blizzard that dumped about 2 feet of snow. While I was thinking about how I was going to shovel out a 300 foot driveway here comes Wayne on his Farmall with a 12 foot snow blower. In the years since we've helped each other out when needed. And it does not stop with them, there's a bunch of others that just love to offer the shirt from their back! Just a good place to be and I hope it lasts for a long time to come.

Probably no one else noticed (unless their from West Michigan) but on the news there was a dog (heeler mix) for adoption. My wife was "surfing" the news so I missed which station. A quick internet search did no good. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Could be a Kzoo, or GR channel?

Hot water actually freezes faster than cool water. Really.

The mpemba effect doesn't mean hot water always freezes faster than cold. It asserts that under some circumstances, it freezes faster than cold. There are a vast number of factors at play that determine if the water is going to freeze and how fast. It is very fascinating!

Hop on petfinder and do a quick search! I know our rescue has an acd, pretty sure he's purebred too that's out on trial adoption right now. Must go to a home where he can be a working dog. He ended up in he shelter because his owners didn't have any idea what they were getting themselves into with the breed and he was too much dog for them.

paint, trim maybe a flower box on top?

Sillychicken, you must not be too far away from me. I saw the same ad and was thinking of using four of those to make my coop. From the other pictures in the ad it looks like they have some with sides that don't have those slits. However the bottom is still a pallet and would need a piece of plywood or caulk to make it draft proof.
