Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Sounds good to me
I just put CS2014 in my calendar...with a footnote that you get to throw a waterballoon at RaZ...

Thanks for handling the reservation...ah, June..warm weather, grass...

CHICKEN ADVICE NEEDED:
So, Spaz has been in the house for 10 days. Was HOPING just throwing her back in with the rest of the kids would go ok. NOT SO MUCH...she was getting beat up almost immediately, ran into the coop, was followed by one PR who was making the weirdest noise (& can really be a brat). A few others then came into the coop..& Spaz was scared.

Bottomline; I brought her back into the house, cuz I simply can't sit out there & watch the dynamics right now (I am at "work", even tho at home).

Spaz was always the lowest on the pecking order.
Should I just put her back out there & let them work it out? Problem is, she was fine, perfect droppings, as soon as they chased her back into coop from pen, the runs. Get her back in the house, runs for a few times (I get it, stress).

Should I wait til dark & "sneak" her in (she always sleeps in a nesting box, has never used a roost)?? Read somewhere that sometimes "eases" the pain (also, these birds all grew up together from the time they were 1 day old).

My main prob, as I have mentioned is I leave out of town for a week at 3:30am Sunday...so I don't know if its just better to let her live in the house for another week or not....

I am soo confused..and bummed...cuz she is DEFINITELY back to herself & not sick anymore ....she needs to be back out w/her buds...she has taken to playing with the cats in here ..

Thanks for any feedback/advice

Dumor, my feed mill says it is very low quality feed. I've been trying to stick with Layena.

With all the snow, and moisture in the air.. could have gotten the food wet in shipment. or from warm vehicle to cold garage.

Precious.. what about a dog crate or cage and put the offending hen in there in the coop or, removing her for a few days so she cannot harass your hen. Kinda knocks the mean hen down a few pegs in the pecking order. a thought...

How do you get a hen back up in the pecking order? I have this hen who was the highest but suddenly one day she just fell and everyone has the right to attack her if she comes too close to the water or food while they are eating.

Chickenstock shirt designs... if someone wants to create something or if you want me to.. let me know. I tossed one together last year at the last minute. I rather not do that again this year.

Not everyone is an Uggo fan... though I cannot understand why! LOL! Anyway.. if everyone liked the idea of being able to add your screen name to the design we could do it again this year. here was the link to the store: http://www.cafepress.com/sarteam/10128363

I think they have to do that for themselves. an ill/weakbird is not going to fight for a higher position, nor hold it for long.

They seem to know when another bird in the coop is ill.. I think that's natures way of protecting the flock. We kinda force these conditions on our birds by domestication and confining them.

Thanks. That was one thought I had..tho there is more than one. Theoretically, I could re-introduce Spaz that way, too; like I did with Lela & Maia.

The biggest issue is my going out of town Sunday. So I may just have to keep, her in the house til I get back; then at least I have a 3 day weekend to "work" the issue.
