Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It appears everyone who was in molt has finished. Both BCMs are giving me beautiful Jumbo dark eggs. Partridge finally gave me a green egg after 3 months & someone is laying cream colored. My rainbow is back!!!!

Went to doc yesterday, put me on a different antibiotic & I have to stay home one more day (which is probably good as I am sleeping like 12 hours+/day).

@naglady
Chicks are way too cute..tempts me, but don't know that I could deal with the dust again! Plus, Spaz still lives in the house AND Blackie is In here with her til Roo goes to camp next Monday.

Here's one more funny from mom...(she sent 9 total, I have uploaded them all in an album under my profile)...

OH! Forgot to mention.

Oakland County folks, if you don't know already, there is a new TSC in White Lake, just east of Teggerdine on M59, north side right across from Oxbow Lake (which I lived on for 17 yrs). Was driving home from Doc, & couldn't believe it, was a bar that changed names several times while I lived there.

I started this morning by placing two fingers of my right hand against my left wrist I was quickly able to determine that it is going to be a good day. Just the fact that I am able to put thoughts on to a page is something I am very thankful for. With the bitter cold weather and record snowfalls it would be very easy to fall into a funk of self pity and grousing that would make the lives of those around me miserable. By starting the morning giving thanks for all that is good in my life they things that aren't seem lessened. Plus it makes me a more agreeable person to those I encounter as my day progresses.

One of my dad's brothers recently passed and my cousin doesn't know what she is going to do with my aunt. She no longer wants to live in the senior citizen complex where they have lived for the past five years, and refuses to go into the bedroom where my uncle had died. My cousin can't understand how we have been able to have Granny living for the past 6 years stating it would be impossible for her mother to live with them. Of course it hasn't been easy, but it is something that you do because anything else just wouldn't seem right. No one wants to be in this position but it is what makes us families..

The news today reports that Shirley Temple has passed. She was able to bring happiness to a lot of people during a time when our country was in the middle of extreme financial woes. She was for several years the most popular person in the country yet was remarkedly unaffected by her stardom. She grew from a child adorned by millions to an adult without scandal and tragedy that seems to follow our young starts today. She retired from the movies and went on to become a wife and mother. She eventually went on to becoming active in politics and became an effective ambassador for our country. We sure could use a few more Shirleys and fewer Justins and Mileys.

Hi all,

Talked with FF in Holland yesterday. Their first batch of chicks is due to arrive on the 24th/25th. First batch is what corporate orders, then the rest they order as need be. They will get me Welsummers in March. I am probably going to drop them from the direct order from Townline - I haven't called but I can't imagine them letting me pick what I want during the busy start of their season, but I will ask. The other option is to see if they have any when I pick up my batch then. Now I know how to sex them (thank you!) I don't want to open the box and find a bunch of roosters,

Keep warm all, one more week and then we have.....snow melt! That is a big yuck as I have clay pastures and horses and knee-deep boot-sucking-off mud in the spring!
