Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@Candy442 -love the tractor. In the summer heat, that would be so nice at night. Just to be able to get all that cool night air and keep the predators out.

Sadly, once the immediate family of a veteran is gone their graves will fall into disrepair. Yet we all have benefitted from that veteran's sacrifice. There are 8760 hours in a year. Take just a couple of those hours and go to a local cemetery. Look for a veteran' grave and pull the weeds from around it. Give him those few moments of your time and respect, for he gave his last moment for us.
Thank you from this and ALL Michigan Vets!

I kept going to check on Spaz & "play" with her this morn...habit :(

Had to leave for Dayton this morning & miss the babies...have a good pet sitter, but I'm still worried about them! They aren't going to be able to be out of their crate as much...& Maia really seems to like to bring them out. But I'm nervous about having the crate door open inside the pen, with everyone stuck in there ... So far all the other birds have been really good with the little ones, & Maia is very good in letting them know if they do something she doesn't like. But, wasn't able to test having them all out together in the pen/run without the ability to get out & free range.

Would hate for them to get "bored" & overly interested in the little ones!

Ah, well. Only gone a few days this time.

For the past couple of years, I and others on the MSFC have asked for a seat on the GAAMP committees which are appointed by an MSU professor appointed by MDARD. We would like to represent the small farmer stakeholders in state wide policy decisions. We have been rebuffed at every turn including this most recent request which was initiated by one of the Ag Commissioners at the April 28 meeting.

I have the complete e-mail request and rejection but here is a public link to read about it. http://www.michigansmallfarmcouncil...selection-gaamp-table-for-small-farmers-again

ETA:
The MI senate has an Agriculture Committee consisting of:
Joe Hune
Darwin Booher
Judy Emmons
Geoff Hansen
Virgil Smith

I'll bet they would love to hear from all of us.

Anyone else getting lucky?
Found these in the middle of my lawn....traded them for a quart of home made cream of morel and other mushrooms soup.
:yesss: we enjoyed half of them last night...
Should have been home letting my chickens free range. I stopped to look for morels on my way home from working the Caring Place donations intake unpacking and putting stuff away this morning, got home just long enough ago to feed chicks, chickens in coop, turn incubator eggs... all that time and just three the size of my baby finger tips!!! Then to get a bowl of cereal, come on here and see THAT! Congrats to you guys but now I am depressed and downhearted... :( :hit :rant I must pray now for forgiveness for the sin of envy and covetousness!
OH NO HE DID'NT!!! My brother in-law just agreed to have me help him build his coop and SPLIT an order of Bantams with him!! Chicken fever is contagious!
He should GIVE you the split of Bantams for helping him get started.... labor you know! Oh I shouldn't say that!.... I would owe (and do but they would take anything) Gammi and her family for the roof on my coop! All they let me do was feed a meal. ;)

Obviously you don't know the secret handshake.

Oh yeah, while out there I had 12 ticks crawl on me.... one made it to my neck and beginning to dig in. Didn't think I had a skin tab there and after feeling, plopping it back and forth I gripped to pull.... nope not a skin tab It came off!!!

Should have just come straight home to the chickens! 5 hours for three teenies wasn't worth the time. I'm not doing good at all at that this year. No more coming in with 50 good ones at a time.
