Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

LOL! These temps are making me think it! It is supposed to be in the 30's overnight here in Holland, and you are not to far from me, so there too!

I plucked all of the remaining peppers off of the plants. I left the plants intact though. Believe it or not the darn things are flowering again! For some reason too, two of my mater plants have also decided to pump out a bunch of new fruit! Nuts, better go and pull them in the garage. Then I am off to bed.

Oh, and don't worry about me saying that profane word. I have already gotten in trouble for swearing here. LOL

Hi boris and welcome to BYC and the Michigan thread :D

Amy, have you tried leaving wooden eggs or golf balls in the nest boxes?

Did my fall coop cleaning today. I used a leaf blower for the first time, and it worked great! I would only do 3 things different:
1. Wear a hat
2 Wear a mask
3. Shower after the leaf blower instead of before.

Added another perch as well, and there are already chickens on it tonight

Ha ha ha!!! That word is basically a curse word right now... lol... I'd rather have a few more weeks of fall weather before we get in THAT routine... Especially since I'm insane and have decided to set a bunch of eggs in the past few days. Why do I do this to myself? lol

Welcome to BYC Boris!!!

Aw, I'm sure there's someone on here who could bring you some and if they won't, I'll make the drive myself. You shouldn't have to do that.
I have been sick

And all I wanted to do was sleep for most of the week... Well, today BF let me sleep until I couldn't anymore (11am)
Had a great mini-Christmas day yesterday. Hillbilly Hen was my Santa, and I bought all of her remaining chicken items. Seeing her again was wonderful

. Although she is no longer up to having chickens (at this time... will keep my fingers crossed she will once again be up to it!), her love of chickens remains, along with her knowledge. Going thru the boxes and finding all of my new treasures was fun.

Got a question though. The weather has told us without a doubt this past week that fall is definitely on the way. I was wondering at what point, date, temperature, do some of you start closing up the windows, installing your winter walls on your coops? I need to make my windows for most of my window openings, and need to make sure I have enough time to do so before the need is actually upon us.
Thanks, it was great seeing you too and I am glad you can use all the stuff.
I agree with RaZ, start now.
. It's going to be a busy week, and have to get ready to take my five young (6-9) grand daughters camping this week end!!

Have fun!!

Thanks for posting the pics fron the Northern Chickenstock. Looks like y'all had a great time and it looks like it was a nice place too.

Glad you're here and posting, Boris.
I haven't tried the stand in eggs. I have left Hazel's egg in the nest box for a day, thinking she might get the clue. I guess we'll try the golf balls next.

I can not even think about winter. Our full spectrum light broke last spring. We can't deal with the lack of sun very well here without it.

I am planning a baby shower for my SILTB
They are having a boy!!! And I am super excited I can hand everything down to her!
She will NEVER have to buy a stitch of clothing! (She will anyway...)

I have decided we are going to play "Who's Watching The Baby?" and I am going to buy a bunch of little babies. Everyone gets one at the door and if you set it down someone else can snatch it up. Whoever has the most babies at the end wins!

And we are going to play "Pin the Egg on the U" Everyone gets a tadpole and writes their name on it and sticks it to the U then we spin mama around once and have he stick the egg on the U and which ever tadpole is closes wins!

Oh this is going to be too much fun!
What other baby showers do you like to play?
BINGO is out because I am giving her all the big stuff.
I like the chocolate bars in the diaper: you melt the bars in the diaper and they have to guess what the candy is... Ewwww! LOL
(what a waste of chocolate! LOL)
