Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Looking for a young cockerel, like under 4 weeks old. Breed isn't uber important would just like to add a rooster to our flock while everyone is still young and all I can seem to find are pullets or adult roostera. Would prefer close within 100 miles of Ithaca. Something that grew up to be more on the docile side.

I have several young roos - all under 10 weeks or less. I am in Zeeland. I am planning on CS if you might be interested.

I have some lil ones about that age. Very friendly breed. Sorry their not free as they came from show stock but they will be beautiful. I have Cochin bantams. If interested pm me.

I'm a ways tho in lapeer

I still have the ultra gentle German New Hampshire roo and hen for sale. I really hope someone wants them - maybe start raising a heritage breed? Hillbilly Hen (Laura) put some pictures up a week, or so, ago of the parents. They are on CL but someone on here must need a breeding pair?

I also need to move 5 Flemish Giant/NZ/CA mix bunnies - 8 weeks old. And, I still have one purebred Flemish Giant - 9 weeks old to sell. The Flemish Giants are so gentle and make great pets. All of the bunnies are hand held and friendly.

Yeah, RAIN! About time!

I am so happy... I had been allowing the goat milk to sit a few days to allow the cream to rise....Last night I skimmed it off, tossed it in the food processor.....and walla! FRESH GOAT BUTTER! Man is it good, mild, NO goaty taste! I was surprised I got as much as I did. this is about a cup of butter from 1.5 pints of cream. DH really liked it too. Now I need a pig to help with the overage of milk! :)

@mindylee I pmed you. Bantams are cute, lapeers not to bad, I drove to holland for ducklings (though I wold rather not repeat thst drive lol)

@jackieandchicks i can't make it to CS :-/ but if you had a lil guy I liked I know I could get a family member to go purchase and pick it up for me. I have a parade that we are taking 13 rescues horses and there younger riders too or I'd so be there. So if you'd like to pm me prices and what little Roos you have available. I'd be super grateful!

Oh NIIIIICE!!! I would so like to taste that!
'Goaty' milk is about clean milking/straining, mostly about getting it chilled down quickly.(from the tons I've read)

Look at making cheeses with your extra milk....or the chickens like it too.
....or if you need an excuse to get a pig, just ignore the other uses I mentioned.

it has some to do with it, but I think there are other factors... like keeping the buck away from the doe... and what you feed her.

I strain the milk as I milk her, and then it goes right into an ice water bath as soon as I put a lid on the jar.

I am on the look out for small wooden butter molds ...

Are you running the raffle
wink.png
, since Opa won't be there.
Last year we went, and were told that if we didn't bring a raffle item, just don't participate in the raffle, which was just fine for me.
Is this still true? I'd hate for folks to not go because they don't have a raffle item. It adds to the fun for some, but it wasn't necessary last year.
this still holds. plants, are good, all just for fun,

still planing to bring a couple folding tables, are they still needed?
