Chicken stock:

For the raffle.. doesn't have to be extravagant, some people in the past have brought junk from home. or something they made... . Chicken themed anything will go fast!! It's just fair to allow contributors to the raffle to benefit from it. This shouldn't be the only reason to attend CS. I will bring something but I won't be hanging around to participate.

I won't be able to haul milk or live stock up because if I do stop at CS it won't be for long and, I have to head up and pick up my ram lamb - not sure when this will work out. I'd like to get him early, and stop on the way back (a few folks said they wanted to see him).

One thing I do want to mention, we only have the park until 3 I believe. So after the lunch or when called to do so, it is important that everyone collect their food containers right away. Last year some stuff got tossed, which I'm sorry about, but when we have to clear out, we have to clear out! There are others who use the park after us.

Have fun!

Hi everyone! Long time no see! I have been busy so I haven't been here in a while but now with my bf working and school out I have nothing to do. I am really looking forward to chickenstock as I do every year! I won't be bringing birds this year because we lost a LOT due to a possum attack and the cold temps despite having heat sources. We also lost our only pig but we knew that was going to happen, just not so soon.

I posted this on the chickenstock page but I don't know how many people check it. We are looking for the following:

Older Jersey Giant roo and JG pullets
Lavender guinea pair
Millie fleur roo at least a year old or a pair of chicks

I look forward to seeing everyone!

I just posted this in the disease thread. Any thoughts?

We have had two ISA browns die in four days. First on Saturday. She was looking a little lethargic on Friday, but nothing we could really pinpoint, just not enthusiastic. On Saturday, we caught her to check to see if she was egg bound. While I have no experience detecting this, I didn't find anything that would lead me to think that was the problem. a little while later DS was holding her, she expelled a large white poop all over him, convulsed and died. Today, one of the hens was sitting with the broody guinea hens (two are co-brooding). I thought maybe she was going broody as well, but when the kids went to check, she was also dead. These were healthy hens, 1yo, good layers who were fine until Friday and today respectively. No wheezing, discharge, bloody poop. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary yet within 24 hours they are dead. Any suggestions of where to start? They don't match they symptoms of anything I am finding. I had thought perhaps bad feed, but we just bought new feed on Saturday morning which wouldn't explain the Sat afternoon death. We are just baffled at this point. No new birds introduced, etc.
