Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hello! I live in the Petoskey area and was wondering if anyone can recommend where to get chicks from, I would love to get some buff Orpingtons. Don't want to drive all the way downstate if I don't have to! Thanks:)

OMG..I can't wait...I think I ate half the tray last year (mostly before "lunch" was served

I'm gearing up for ChickenStock -- its mine and DH's first year! Will there be name tags?

Also, what's the best resource people have had for introducing a newcomer to a flock of three? Our girls are only four months old, so we're looking to bring an EE close to their age home with us...

It's pretty easy to bond them. If you don't find one, I may have a EE pullet here the same age group ;)

I may try this instead of straight vinegar - had some good results with plain old white vinegar but some weeds are more resistant. Now with the bees and chickens around I will not treat with any weed killers.

I will have to try this also. We have a ton of thistles this year and the kids keep stepping on them.

Hey all.

Anyone who I contacted before about eggs...or any new folk who may not know I will be at chickenstock and will buy past prime eggs, or any eggs of the following:

Goose, turkey, blue or whie duck, guinea and blue or green chicken OR spotted eggs. Serama and silkie as well.

Anything basically except white or brown chix.

If you have a lot please contact me so I can prepare.

As long as they aren't ripe (LOL) I'm interested.

Haven't been on for awhile. Sold my house, mom got sick and had to care for her ( she's fine now) had sons wedding inOregon and am moving tomorrow!!! BUT I will be at chickenstock next week with pysanky eggs and eggshell jewelry. And eggs for the raffle!

See ya all soon

I was looking at your eggs. what amazing work!! I was wondering, do you make up your own designs or are there traditional patterns handed down? I make polymer clay eggs, but they are not as complex as yours for sure! Very nice.

Thanks! I do both traditional and custom (some contemporary, folk art, and whimsical designs-like for Halloween). I love the bright colors on the polymer eggs.
