Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thanks for taking pictures! I'm a full-time wedding photographer, and I know how it can be when you're the one that has to take an events pictures! If DH and I go again next year -- and if there's interest -- I wouldn't mind running my Photo Booth/Wall with props for a couple hours. It would be fun to get everyone loosened up and still get pictures of everyone who attended!
Yeah why not, you should. I would never touch a wedding, lol! My friend is a pro shooter in Muskegon (FAR). He shoots mostly commercial and does not like dealing with the emotions of a wedding. That's a tough assignment you take on!

I like to ramble around and get impromptu shots if possible. I need a few new "special" lenses. That's my goal for next year.

Me too! (On a side note, DH is now addicted to Mounds Bar brownies, too. This is a bit of a prob as he is depleting my stash while I'm at work

@uchytil Great pix, John!! Thanks for taking that on again (& it was kinda fun looking at last year's, too

Now you have the recipe and you can make more. It is so easy to make.

I agree, great pictures John.

We have had more butterflies around this year. I just had to share this that I took yesterday.

Do you have any muscovy babies for sale, or older as long as they are hens? How far are you from Millington?
We have wrestled in Millington, you are about an hr away. I am between Pt. Huron and lapeer. I could always meet you somewhere also if you would like. I don't know how to sex them, they will be only 5 weeks old Saturday. I only have 4 left, 2 are yellow and 2 are brown/yellow. So I don't know if that means 2 will be the color of mom and 2 like dad or anything. lol I have them advertised on Michigan Poultry for the last 4 for $15. You can PM me if u would like them and I'm sure i could get them to ya. Sorry I just don't know what sex they are.

HH, beautiful picture.

I have never regretted buying a Brinsea Spot Check thermometer - it is accurate, reliable, and easy to use, none of which you will find in a cheap thermometer - - - their accuracy range is usually +/- 2 degrees, meaning they can vary up to 4 degrees from high to low. Additionally, they can change with time, and become inaccurate without warning.

Photobooths are great fun, I would like to set one up at the memorial my BF's family is having in a few weeks - is it complicated?

I bought a new thermometer for my incubator since the ones I have are 6 degrees off and it gets irritating to -6 the thermometer every time you want a reading LOL. So I bought a little $1.89 aquarium thermometer and it's reading that the temp in the bator is 110 in the middle!! The sides are a perfect 99 according to it. I'm waiting for some ice to calibrate it and see if it's correct.
Are you using a still air or circulated (fan) incubator? That's a BIG range, either way. I believe that some recommend a slightly higher temp (100-101) for still air, but don't hold me to that. ;) Definitely calibrate! My genesis ran perfectly off the factory thermometer last year, and was 3 degrees off (low) this year. I calibrated a cheapie aquarium thermometer and checked the temp against that and haven't had any incubator issues since.

Yesterday was typical... meaning another day of brain farts.

Went to the farm store yesterday to get layer pellets. We have some layer crumbles, but we'll be going on vacation soon & my mom is going to "farm-sit" for us and I don't want her to be confused between the starter crumbles, layer crumbles, and high protein crumbles. I want to make it easier on her so she can just feed "pellets" to the big coop with the hens & "crumbles" to the little coop (since the guineas & the meat chicks are in the grow out pen with the spring pullets they're all just getting a high protein crumble for now & not to confuse that with the layer crumble).

Once I got to the farm store I got distracted looking at "farm style keychains". ...again for my mom. She watches our farm for us every year & every year we need to get new house/barn keys made for her. So we thought this year we would attach a large "can't miss... these are the farm keys" keychain to them.

Anyways, left the store later with a John Deere tractor keychain and some crumbles. OMG! We needed pellets! I'll be making another trip to the farm store today, unless DH stops on his way home. UGH... SMH.

If I don't make a list, it gets forgotten for sure. Sometimes even with a list I forget, but there's a much better chance.

That is the kind of thermometer I had too. I was happy with it.
