I honestly feel so bad for her. I hope she's living a happy life): we need to have doctors that specialize in chickens lol that'd be amazing. Most vets don't know what the heck to do with chickens

I do feel bad too but she's totally spoiled. She has her own lil room (fenced in corner) of the coop and goes in there at night. She loves being with the rest of the flock during the day and everyone is very nice to her and don't pick on her.
She can get around using her wings and is fast too. If she wasn't healthy or didn't keep good body weight I would cull her. Bit because she is very healthy and has such a awesome personality, I see no reason not to have a good life. She may not be able to walk and as a responsible pet owner, if I'm willing to give her the extra care that she needs, they y not let her live her life.
I would never let her suffer and she don't seem to be in pain as I do preform pain tests. Just I make sure if she dose poo on herself, I keep it cleaned that way it don't burn her or cause any other health issues.

What's a grinner? Possum?

Photoshop Elements is only a hundred bucks....much less function than the full, but still....works for me but I'm a lightweight anyway, and better than nothing after having had PS full for years.

yes.........

I used to have a wicom drawing tablet........ they have come a long way since then and I'd love to get another!

My favorite smell is freshly baled hay. I love to walk in a barn with freshly stacked hay.

I love it unless I am the one who had to stack the hay.

For a simple, easy to use free photo program, try Paint.NET - it is not as functional as Photoshop, but does very well for basic photo manipulations, and I have tweaked some photos in very interesting ways.

just a thought... you shouldn't try to "force" the mom (if it is the mom) .......she may have abandoned them on purpose... if you force them together she may kill them, exp if they aren't hers..   are the kittens in an area where she can find them?   If you want to try to trap her try canned cat food or tuna....... though your chances of trapping a coon or grinner is better.   Good luck!

sheep.......LOL!   Photo shop is an awesome program.......... wish I had it!

You are right Silly. I have given up on mom. If the one I saw was the mom, she was in very rough shape, probly why she abandoned them. The only thing I've *ever* caught in my trap is my own cat. Told DH tht I don't think I'm up to dealing with a raccoon in a trap right now. Anyway. Found a tick on one kitten today. They seem to be having an easier time eating the Kitten Chow at least. Forgot to get new pics-- they are so cute. And they hardly hiss at me anymore. LOL

Ok, for those of you who use business cards, store bought or hand made holders, and did ya diy? Any patterns to share? Stay cool today everyone.

7 more days to hatch out on July 4th! Barnevelders and Mechel/Malines. 43 eggs in bator.
BEST of luck on your hatch!

I've got a hatch under 2 broodies that should be happening either tomorrow or Saturday. Pretty exciting, although one broody has never been a very good one...squishes eggs all to often. I dunno why I let her set again this year. She just seemed so determined, and I thought maybe this time...anyway, she's only got 3 eggs under her out of the 9 she began with.

The other broody has 6 left of the 8 I gave her. I'm thinking if broody #1 hatches any, maybe I'll slip them under broody #2 so I only have one broody with chicks to tend to.

Good day, fellow Michiganders - just wanted to pop in & say hello. Hope everyone is well, and has a wonderful weekend!

Forgive me if this doesn't show, I'm new :)

Any ideas on how to secure the run (PVC and hardware cloth) to the shed? I am out of my element with this stuff.

Maybe those "C" shaped nails? We call them "horseshoe" nails, which isn't what they are, but they're shaped like a horse shoe.

Sidebar: be super careful with a run like this; it's likely not predator proof. They'd be fine in there under supervision, of course, but you might not want to leave them with access to the "run" if you're going to be away for awhile.

What kind of chickens do you have?
