Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

In search of a small rototiller to borrow for a day...

I'd like to till the ground in the 2 runs, but our tiller is too wide to fit through the doors. DH said he can remove a wall from the side of the runs, but that would take a lot more work than we'd like put into it.

If you have one near here that we could borrow let me know. Wayland area.

What's small? I have a 17" rear tine and a 5 foot 3 pt, pretty sure the 5 footer won't fit, lol! The 17" is pretty narrow and fits in my runs. Wayland is a hike from Twin Lake. I have a friend in Gun Lake I could visit but he's not home this week (4th and all). I bet you could rent one cheap for a few hours. Or get the spade out and start turning! I wish I was closer and I'd come tear it for you guys.

Well then obviously *I* don't understand the laws well enough...lol.....so if the animal endeavors are ;commercial enough' RTF trumps local desires?

I think the weather people should do a recap 24 hours after their forecast. Just to see how accurate they were. Kind of like a batting average.

Our little pullet hasnt improved at all. She cant even get to the feeder/waterer on her own so we have decided to euthanize her. Poor girl, but it is no way to live. I've had to hand feed and water her today.

Poor girl, but I would be doing the same.. Thinking of you!

Well, I guess that depends on what the local municipality decides. All 1773 of them in Michigan.

I thought you wanted a breeder group? (D'uccles)
Not me. Our coop is a girls only club, as we're in a neighborhood.

Crazy, I know............
Not crazy. I get it.

I think Amber's last bantam that she picked out (Silver Sebright) is a cockerel (5 weeks old). Still a little too early to tell, but likely. So we have 4 bantam pullets, and 1 bantam cockerel in our small pen. (that's the way our luck is... I should have let you pick out the Sebright too. LOL). Not sure if Oliver would fight with the Sebright if they only have 4 ladies between them. ? If you don't get any takers by the time he's crowing he can come here. I have 2 pens (one for full grown/layers, & 1 for bantams/chicks) and each pen already has 1 roo, but we could work something out. I feel bad that you picked up all the chicks and the one you kept ended up being the only boy in the batch. Let me know.
Maah, while I'm relieved to read this offer, I don't want you to feel any obligation at all. I'm hoping I might have a lead, but if your offer stands, I might take you up on it when the time comes. Thanks!

Worrying about my dogs this afternoon. Got home to find a chewed and empty pill bottle. No idea which one it was (though my guess is the puppy). Vet had me vomit them all with hydrogen peroxide to check for pill bits, but no luck. All vomit was clean. So now I'm supposed to watch for any behavior differences and rush to the emergency vet if they exhibit any. Oy.
Oy! You need a break! I hope both dogs are okay.

Yes...tori, you DESERVE a break..hope they're both ok... Had a lab I was babysitting get into a bottle of vitamin B once...counted & the idiot ate over 100..but, apparently, THAT wasn't a biggy as vet said they just "pee" it out; same dog ate a stick of butter, a pound of ground venison, a 16 oz bag of M&Ms (THAT i was worried about..chocolate) & a full 13x9 of Cap'n Crunch treats (like Rice Krispie treats). I THOUGHT I had put all this stuff "out of reach". Nope. THEN, when with his mama...mouse poison.. He's fine..SO, it appears to me, dogs are pretty resilient :)

State law still trumps local law. It is just each case has to go to court (locally) and try to prove that to the judge.  Most judges will avoid the issue and just rule that the operation is not commercial or not "commercial enough" to qualify under the RTFA.

Anyway, here is an op-ed...

I hope they appeal!
There is no minimum sale required for RTFA. Only an "intent to sell"
I still have my RTF workshop hand outs stating this... I'd be happy to make copies.
