Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

At CS this year there was someone with a single cochin roo that was sold to I think some asian people. What kind was he, he was really neat and id like to get a pair. He had blue in his butt area

That was me. I got him from someone in Muskegon who I can't recommend - the cochin was supposed to be a BCM. He didn't have very good coloring. However, I have an adult male and a female I am growing out and plan on hatching eggs from them in the spring.

lol, those same people wanted to buy my sheep.....really? Just so everyone knows, if you have a bird or other, that you don't want sold as food... avoid those folks. If you don't care, feel free. But my sheep? How ... no I don't want to know. lol!

Wow, tap, certainly some excitement for you!

Gonna have lots of excitement here today/nite; tho, not chicken related.

BIG wedding next door today (230+ people). So glad it looks like it'll be a nice day. I had the week off & have been working my butt off to get our yard in order so it looks nice ... And, man, am I SORE! Still a few more things to do here, then told neighbor I am at their disposal for any help they need. The tent for the reception is massive. Our property will be part of the parking lot

It's gonna be a beautiful wedding & a good time AND We certainly don't have to go far to attend:D

Just hope the birds can stay quiet for about 30 minutes during the ceremony ....

They are doing something unique instead of a unity candle (well, i think it's unique, maybe not so much for farming folks). Neighbor went to the peonies planted on our property line to get some dirt. Asked her, what ya doing? The dirt is from her DH's grandparents' farm. During the ceremony both sides of the bride & groom will bring soil from their farms, the great-GPs farms, etc. & put it all together...sounds pretty cool to me...I'll prob have a better descrip tomorrow..so I'll quit rambling...

Have a great day, all...can't believe 10th nice weekend in a row (well, til tomorrow)..

combined dirt...(different)..... they should have planted a tree in it... so it could grow with them.

Well, my extra roos were headed for the freezer anyway, and I didn't have to do it personally.

What cracked me up as they told me they were going to breed them - stock answer, I'm sure. Anyone with a half-sense knew what they were doing.

I agree, the roosters were there to sell and what the people that buy them do with them does not matter. A sale is a sale, right? It would have been nice to see both roosters go to a good home that would use them for breeding, but DH and I were realistic. I did not get that answer from those folks, they just said "how much" and they gave me the money :)

I was witness to a triple threat the other day. Three hawks all working in tandem hunting the exact same spot in the field. I have never seen anything like it.
I've seen that with the Coopers hawk. It was a family unit with the adults teaching the young hawk how to hunt. They nailed a blue jay in the park across the street. As the young hawk matured he claimed my area as his but I haven't seen him since early spring. Maybe that is why the rabbits are getting bolder.

Hi Raz! That is so cool to see how that works. Birds of prey have always circled everywhere but here as single hunters, but since I now have chickens, my property is now on their list of hunting grounds.

Securing the girls is top priority.
