Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Cool, that's early for a Wellie!!....can you post a pic of her?

Well, if you insist:

Not the best pic, sorry. That's her on the right, with my mixed-breed roo. My chickens have just discovered they can go -into- the woods surrounding my house. Joy of joys - wonder of wonders!! They're not really interested in getting their pictures taken right now; too busy finding exciting things to scratch and peck.

Cool, how long have your's been laying? I was surprised mine was so well speckled. That's one of the reasons I wanted the welsummer, but I was thinking the hatchery birds might not produce it. Was hoping it would be a little darker, too, but oh well.

For bird news though my pretty blue bunny (roo) has had lung congestion for weeks now. 3 days on tetracycline didn't touch it so i did a week and a half of tylan 50 thinking pneumonia, nothing. Wormed heavy duty thinking gapes maybe, nothing. Girls pinked up great with all this though, so other than the breathing on him i got nothing. ??? No smell, no eye/nose discharge, no ruffle/ hunch, eyes bright as ever. Always wants held anyway so can't say if he is clingier than usual? I want to anti-up and get the denaguard, a long term routine is said to eliminate crd& mg.

Also hope's sister has eaten straw as well. Been coaxing her to drink and eat, massaging the mass. Not bringing her to the vet after that last experience i know that i am a better chance. She is showing improvement. (I have changed shifts at work so i see more than when i was having a friend do it; she is learning and may be a chicken addict in the making

I have an EE girl with that lung congestion/coughing problem. I figured after eliminating everything else it must be fungal because she has no discharge, no sputum, bright red comb and wattles, clear eyes...eating fine, drinking fine and laying great looking eggs.

I bought some Oxine (ordered through Amazon) and isolated her in the pole barn with her own cage and a cool mist humidifier. I ran the humidifier right in her cage, covered with a blanket for about two hours or when the mist (on medium heavy) was almost done. Did this three days straight. She was starting to miss her flock mates, so on the fourth day she had a light vibration in her breathing, but as soon as I let her outside the fourth day afternoon, there was no sound of the problem.

You may want to try? I was skeptical of oxine, but in the unactivated form it deterred what I feel is a fungus growth from who knows where/what and she is doing much better.

Hmm. I am pretty sure fungal/ mold is a possibility, the camper coop had started leaking :( also the insulation between walls had attracted mice. I wonder if garlic could work on a larger scale? I have 2 groups of birds i'd want to treat.

I spent part of the morning working in the garden until the starting getting too warm. The garden is doing fairly well and my neighbor says he's envious. He planted his two weeks before I and has had substantially less growth. I think the difference is I heavily fertilize mine with chicken manure and wood shavings.

This is one zuchinni plant and it's over 4' tall
