Hi again! I would like some advice on a problem my duckling is experiencing. Her neck is swollen on the right side, it has been that way for a few days, I have not noticed a change in behavior and she is eating and drinking normally. If it matters she found a cherry pit in the garden and consumed it a few days ago. Also if it matters she is a pekin and almost 3 weeks old.

Also, are welsh harlequins smaller than other breeds? they are growing at the same rate as the others but are almost half the size.

3 weeks, yes maybe the pit is lodged in there. You can massage the area holding the ducks head down and see if anything dislodges.

Fly strike in rabbits is the worse thing I've ever seen. Usually by the time you see it the maggots are internal and dispatch is the most humane way to treat. Never seen it in a chicken.

I've been working in my flower garden a lot this past week. I realized something was missing. The buzz of bees. Always told my daughter how loud the hum of the bees were as I weeded. I saw one lone bee yesterday.
Yah, Our numbers are down. Some of apple trees have fruit while others do no which is very strange. Usually it's all or nothing and due to late frost. This time I'm pretty sure it's the bees. The blueberries are loaded and I've never seen more blackcaps in my life! Seems the only thing affected is some of the apples.

How's the run-bunnies? I tried to rehome my last bunny by telling someone I know a gal that keeps hers in with the chooks. She wasn't having none of it, ha ha!

We lost 4 more birds to a fox yesterday... darn thing is coming up into our yard, with the dogs loose even..... 2 chicks and 2 hens..... one was my favorite, button head, leaving 3 tiny chicks behind. We have everyone in a large dog kennel for now cause we're not going to be able to address the problem this week. But when I do .......

If it were fall I'd come down with my predator call, .223, and have some fun. Sorry for the loss and I hope you get the thief!

Awww. I feel your frustration. Our killer fox is still out there. I've kept my chickens locked up since Thursday. I finally let them out today for a couple hours. They stayed really close to the coop and my young roo was pretty jumpy. Sorry about your loss. :barnie
