Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Sorry, Silly! How frustrating. Would think the dogs would keep the foxes at bay.
John, my rabbits are doing great! Think they're happy being able to run, jump and play. And they even get to dig some! I'm quick with the shovel to return the dirt back into the hole, lol. They're spoiled. They get lots of greens, too. My neighbor even brought some picked weeds for them. Said she can't look at weeds any more without thinking "bunny food" cuz of me! Lol

Sorry Silly - she was a pretty girl. We had a coyote back yesterday, but I wasn't quick enough to do anything.
Last night it wasn't raining and I wasn't freezing so I spent some time with the critters.

Guineas and turkey girls. When I originally went for my camera, they were all looking up at an airplane going over. The Turkeys and guineas still hang together.

Toot and Puddle.

Jack - he came from Nova but he hasn't been kept separate to let his tail grow.

Perry, nicely recovered with her chicks and Buzz. He watches over the chicks as much as she does.

My Seramas. Flora is the tiny one in the front. We have two extra boys if anyone is looking.

Mr. Turkey

It was a great picture of Pippin until the turkey wandered in.

Brutus and Stevie. After the pictures I realized I took mostly of my roosters. I had to think about it but I have I have eleven roosters, not counting 5 Serama boys.

look who visited this morning :

400

Been thinking about the next chickens I want to get, maybe next year. Still waiting on eggs from my first batch here. I should start getting eggs in another week or 2. I kinda want to get into some more heritage breeds, something that will do well here in SE Michigan in a chicken tractor. Still haven't tried to let them out to forage outside of the tractor yet, but I've been giving them meal worms and they're quickly figuring out that that's yummy stuff.

Who else here might have chicks that I might be interested in?

flying out to seattle tonight for a little vacation and wedding on san juan island..gone for a week, will be nice to get away, I'm just frustrated that I have lost so many birds to this (these) darn fox! I will have a pelt on my wall soon mind you... we are going to set this b stard up to fail when we get back!

note to self - never mess with the bees without smoking them first...... OUCH!!

Welcome to the new folks!

I agree, plucking a non standard feather is cheating... if your bird is not to standard in it's natural form, it is not to standard. Some faults are allowed, so show him as he is and if the judges say he's not up to snuff, get another bird.

I added supers without smoking them. I will admit to getting one little sting after I accidentally crushed one with the hive tool. Except for honey harvest I rarely smoke them or wear the bee suit.

I lost my lone chick sometime during the night. It was there at bedtime and gone in the morning. I have no idea of where it could have disappeared to.

Farmerboy 16 (Daron) is MIA. Anyone heard from him? I tried texting him and no joy there. Last time I saw him was on my way to CS14 when I stopped by to pick up eggs for Glambka.
