Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

thanks its not complete but its for my daughter really but we both are sooo excited for this chicken journey.
Hahahahaha. I said that too but I have spent waaay more time than she has getting to know our flock. I had no idea I was going to be like this. I love these chickens.

I love that chair but it's going to get awful dusty in there real quick.

I usually by all my poultry supplies from Cutler Supply. Nice folks, good prices, and it's a Michigan company.
Good to know, I love supporting our state.

ah Im not worried it was just a junk chair from the garage and I find myself sitting in it often, just watching. I truly am surprised how many visitors our coop is getting its like everyday someone wants to stop over and see the coop. makes me happy.

Oh good. It looks really nice and I wondered.
I am getting visitors also. My anti social neighbors can not wait for their eggs now. LOL Their son even got to name a chick.

oh awesome! I am worried because I haven't met most my neighbors let alone tell them my shed is now a coop... we are new to the neighborhood but we are on a main street so I would assume its just the same if not better than the traffic noise. please post a pic of your coop! I would love to see, also any tips from one Michigander to another?

Woke up to some good, soaking, rain this morning ( I know the west side has had enough) and boy we need it. What's nice about this time of year is after the parchment of July/August we turn bright green again in September. It really does look beautiful out there. I started clearing a new goat pen which involves removing trees, brush, etc. and it'll be about 2/3 the size of my main pen. What's also pretty cool is I take a whole log, about 20 foot, and split it down the center. Spike it to tree stumps in a zig-zag and the goats have an elevated walk-way. Free playground equipment. Off to the sawmill to place an order of oak boards today.

Oh, and since I put the cart before the horse as usual I need to figure out a way to winter over my Sweetwater turkeys. No pen, no nothing yet. Maybe a corner in the barn?

The winter and snow doesn't seem to bother the turkeys as much as chickens. A nice high perch in the corner of the barn, would make them happy.

I'm so keeping my fingers crossed that the land next to ours is going to go through tax foreclosure. I don't feel too bad about it because the person who owned it has passed away a few yrs ago. I'm guessing if her old BF is holding out to bid on it too, as he owns the land on the other side if it. We may end up paying more for it. I've been following the state auctions and most of the properties are going for dirt cheap w/houses even.

South West has missed all the rain in the last few weeks...been very dry, no mowing needed tho.
Now that it's pouring here I better get the tractor fixed, so I can ride instead of walk the mower when that grass surges.
