Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Fair is just around the corner. :) DD will be entering a few birds in the open class, doing the showmanship event, and market pen for chickens.

"Oliver", the porcelain d'uccle we got from @Amy PT has a chicken girlfriend now. We took our porcelain d'uccle pullet "Socks" and put her in with him. They've been together since Saturday now and are doing great together.

All the chickens we got from CS are doing well. I need to get some pictures taken of them. Maybe I will do that today (tomorrow if it doesn't stop raining) since I need to take my camera out there anyways to get pics of DD & her meat chickens for the fair buyers letters.

South West has missed all the rain in the last few weeks...been very dry, no mowing needed tho.
Now that it's pouring here I better get the tractor fixed, so I can ride instead of walk the mower when that grass surges.
Whoops, I meant the EAST side has had enough, lol! We, here in the WEST side are loving it! At least I am.

Which Fair? Cindy and I have been too busy to get to one yet. We always make the Oceana(Hart) Fair. Maybe another down south would be fun.

Came home to my old black frizzle hen dead in nest box. She went broody last week and died sometime today. I'm gonna guess due to old age. She was a grand ole gal.

And currently I'm trapped in my metal barn due to the lightning storm that's putting a pounding on my place right now.

On the brighter side... I have 4 newly born baby bunnies in a nest box. Born last night. Momma had them scattered all over hutch and no fur pulled and babies cold to the touch. I shredded some paper towel and grabbed fur from a shedding buck and made a nest. All are alive 24 he's later and nice and warm. Now hopping momma is feeding them. I did see her by them so hopefully she is catching on ON how to be a mommy!

A couple of cheques arrived in the mail today from BYC people. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the support of everyone here.
For the past couple of years I have worn my heart on my sleeve and you folk have listened to my plight, my rants and opinions on the state of affairs regarding backyard farming. I can't begin to express my deep gratitude for your support.
