Oh man, what am I going to do? Kittens are ready to go and I have no homes or barns for them or Mama. Hubby comes home next weekend and they can't be here. He has no idea I rescued them.

I should have just told her no but they were going to kill them so I took them all including mom, who I believe has some Siamese in her. Very thin and regal looking. Reminds me of Quincy. RIP old boy.

They are 6 wks old and adorable but I can only keep one.
Any takers?

Trouble
I'm glad you're not closer or this one would be causing trouble at my house with my hubby! I am partial to Siamese mixes!!!

The bad news is the animals want to help. While shooing the parakeets, the dogs stole 2 ears of just shucked corn.

This is an action shot of our cat, Lydia, busily stealing corn silk out of the trash and eating it as fast as she can. She helpfully pulls large amounts of the husks out, too, and chews on them. If you leave entire unhusked raw ears on the counter, she will husk them herself and eat the corn with great enthusiasm. We have to hide the corn in the microwave out of her reach until we are ready to cook it. (She has also broken into and snacked on bags of flour, pita bread, and cinnamon bread. She hasn't read the books that say cats are obligate carnivores).

She is a devil in a cat suit. Well, a cute devil.

(Oh, and just in case you have a theory about cats getting "addicted" to corn and carbs by being fed low-quality grain-based commercial cat food--okay, you probably don't, but I have been told this by the "experts" at the boutique pet store--Lydia has been on a grain-free, meat-based, high quality diet since she was a tiny kitten, and before that it was just her mama's milk. The only corn and wheat she's ever eaten is what she's stolen.

For the last several days they are scratching out all the shavings or straw, I think it's the younger ones checking out the new boxes before they get ready to lay. What do you use for padding? Is there anything I should never use?

I had a problem with cracked eggs for a while until I re-purposed an old foam mattress cover which I cut up into nest box sized pieces, I put them in the bottom of the nest box, then add a layer of shavings and a little straw now and then. No more broken eggs, and the foam pads can be removed and washed easily, they dry in no time at all in this weather
