Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Okay, there is good news and not that bad news. The good news is that the 2 displaying symptoms yesterday are looking better and are still alive (and separated). No other birds are displaying symptoms, we are providing the 2 that are separated with food, yogurt, and electrolyte laced water. They unfortunately still have diarrhea but are not drinking much, but they are at least drinking on their own now. The not THAT bad news is that we did find red slime on the inside of EVERYBODYS water (Pullets, Younger Pullets and Ducks). So they were all scrubbed with baking soda then treated with bleach. Other than that, everyone is doing well now :)

Ok. So it was the water. Fungal, give some garlic to yours too to speed recovery. Red slime is worse than green slime i think! I don't remember what it means but wild birds won't touch it!!! Slime/ molds are poison to birds.

Skinny dragon, there is a whole page of eye disorders.... can you read this? It narrows by age.

I did end up finding a dove.. :)

The reason behind the frantic search is a little sad though. I was quietly keeping a "wild" dove that got left behind several winters ago, a little runt that was not able to fly. Someone finally made the call on me and i had to surrender him to the dnr. He and i were fully bonded and he got mad the few times i brought him out, he roamed my house when i was home but mostly stayed on my head or near me. It was a terrible thing and i'll never understand some of our laws. My only

consolation is that being small perhaps no one will want to eat him. :(

This was my angel

I sent him off to a rehabilitation place in grand rapids, there were other doves there. I hope he was able to connect with one, little turd didn't want anything to do with the ones outside. I miss him dearly. If any of you are the rehabilitator, or know her thank you. I hope he is eating he always went off his feed when upset.? Also i thought he was 3 but he is actually 5. Not scared of cats, i have a very well behaved tabby and he used to fly down in front of his face! Cat would take off running fearing my wrath and i do think angel knew and it amused him.
