Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Finally getting the hang of this blasted glucose meter. I wonder if it is accurate.

There are meter testing solutions you can get to check it. Some meters aren't as accurate as you need. And the meters should be tested every so often but I'm sorry I can't remember how often that is. :idunno And I'm sorry you need to use one. That can be very frustrating. But they can save your life. Best wishes to you.

It's official. I have to cut down my favorite old maple tree. It's hollow inside and these darn winds just about blew a big branch onto the coop roof.

Missed them by that much.

I love this tree, it's huge and sits in the center of my driveway. We actually drive around it,

cuz we're cool like that. I refused to let them cut it down when redoing the driveway and house years ago. Too many memories, but now it's dangerous. It held one end of my hammock until the dog went surfing on it. Oh Tank...

It bums me out all my favorite yard trees are dying. The ones I don't really care for, oh they are just dandy. hmmph.

Won't be the same, but, if you have the stump pulled, you can plant a new maple. They grow very fast! I have some red maples that are beautiful and very tall at only 10 years old. Of course my sugaring maples are in massive abundance and too numerous to count. Most people have stumps ground. I'd get a quote to pull and then replant!

Hello All! I haven't been on here in forever...no good excuse except for busy life. Hope everyone is doing good and hope some of you are planning on attending the Fowl Fest show in Birch Run next month. :) If you don't want to show it's fun to just go check out! Here's a picture of my daughter, Hannah, and her favorite Silkie cockerel named "Mr Poofy Pants".

I'm still alive and kicking... :D

Hi Jen, how did you do with your hares this summer? My friend that got meat rabbits from you 2 years ago won at fair this year with some descendants.
I've been building up my herd a little and cut back on shows for a bit because of school. They're doing good though, have some nice Jr's I'm growing out. :)
I remember those! That's great they're still doing good with them!

I second the testing solutions to make sure your meter is accurate. At the hospital, we do control tests once a day on each of the glucose meters. Though we've got the super computer/workhorse units, and are doing lots of test during the day!

That's true uchytil, and I can put it where I want it now too. I've always wanted a silver maple.

Funny thing, we just picked up an old wood shredder implement for the tractor...like it's asking for help.

Time to call my tree buds. I wonder if they remember me, it's been years.
