winter is always close behind

good luck with the meter Raz, brother-in-law has had one for yrs, but I know nothing about them. I hear there are some very good advances in the way they work

I'm considering bringing our d'uccle in for therapy sessions with one of my clients. I don't think there's a certifying body for therapy chickens, but I'd be okay with unofficial. :)

When I was starting my Beaks 'N Books program I investigated having chickens registered as therapy animals. Pet Partners doesn't say chickens but after talking to their regional director she said to try, birds are case by case. However!! the cost was large, 100+ for the course, 75 an animal plus travel because to have your animal looked at the closest was Chicago. Knowing how favorite chickens have a tendency to die I wanted to use several birds. We just don't call them therapy animals, they are just animal assistants.

I recently was taught how to turn a sock into a chicken diaper for small chickens. I however used the technique to make a coat for my poor naked Martin. She pulls her neck in like a turtle because she doesn't like it. But I was worried about her and the cold.

By the way does anyone identify the wild flower/herb/weed that is in the picture, I'd love to know what it is. It is taking over our lawn. It almost looks like a chamomile but doesn't smell like it.

I also have one of my turkey hens acting 'Off' If she was a hen I would say she was egg bound by how she looks. They are ready to be butchered and now I'm not sure what to do. We did get 6 inches of rain this past week so I'm sure all the moisture isn't good for them.

It looks like the wild form of daisy we have here. There are two with two different leaves and one has the sprawling/fallen look of this photo. taprock I just noticed your location is Northern Lower like me so is probably it.

Neither the doctor nor the nurse said anything about calibrating the unit. The directions say there is an optional calibration kit that is extra. Go figure.
In my opinion I think the hernia needs attention right away and the diabetes diagnosis needs more investigation. And would it kill the doc to do something for my back?

It seems like caregivers are doing less and less care-giving these days. You have to be proactive or they blow you off, it seems.

Just don't get a Norway maple (Acer platanoides L) they are now considered as an invasive species..
I was talking with a friend who is a naturalist this weekend and she hates silver maples (Acer saccharinum L.) because they tend to be kind of weak. Could be that one in her yard fell into her house this past storm has jaundiced her opinion of them.
How about a sugar or black maple (A. saccharum or A. nigrum) that you can tap for syrup? Awww bummer. SUGAR MAPLE IT IS! Yum.

And if you need any old tree cut for firewood and hauled away, I might be able to help.

Thanks. You know you are always welcome. When we figure out logistics, I'll let you know the details.

I agree with your friend Raz, silver maples are not my favorite - they grow pretty quickly but tend to be weak. (red maples, by the way, are toxic to horses if the leaves are ingested). good info

Sugars are lovely trees, native, hardy and beautiful in the fall. Andgive lovely sap.
Just a heads up for everyone. Fall is officially here and with the changing season come hawk migration. Expect to see an increase in the local raptor population. Yep, they are EVERYWHERE. Sitting in said dead trees just watching. Kinda creepy. I never noticed them before since I had no reason to deter them, but now, jeeez, I watch them like a hawk.

Yes they are! I've seen a few circling around here and guess what? My black sex link, my first layer, went missing a few days ago. I searched most of my 5 acre parcel and could not find her! I'm pretty sure it happened during the day! I miss her!

Court in 2 hours.
In spite of doing exactly what the court ordered last month, the summons is a show cause hearing for "criminal contempt".
I have no idea of how this is going to go.

best of luck. hope things go well (or at least not badly).

The judge was not there. It seems that there were a couple of secret actions that took place between the judge and the probation department. Fines and costs were added but not mentioned in the official record. I have a copy of the transcript that says I only have to do the work programme. The PO was not happy that I have the transcript. She did log that I was refusing to comply with the judge's order. So I asked for a copy of the Judgement and guess what? There isn't one.

They seem to just make this stuff up as they go along.

I go back to court on October 21.
