Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

The first floor is 48 by 32. The upstairs is as large but filled with hay, straw, and equipment so I'll rope off the stairs. They are also setting up a huge white tent. If my son wants this he's going to be working a full day just to empty it out and another day, or two, cleaning it to her standards, lol! These barn wedding/receptions are the hot ticket right now I guess. I even had to save some cherry rounds from my maple syrup wood. She wants me to make random thickness plates/serving trays from them. Another thing people seem to be doing. Ahh, young love.
Its a barn, so he better bring in some of the groomsmen to assist with the mucking out and cleaning up to her standards.

I did go to a wedding 2 years ago way over on the west side of the state. Family that rents out their old round side dairy barn for receptions and wedding chapel. They had the wedding down in the old milking parlor and held the reception upstairs in the old hayloft. I thought it was kinda amusing to see the old old floor boards up there and giggling at some of the stains that the raccoon poop had left on the boards near the edges of the hay mow. Other than it was early April and not really heated or insulated, it went off pretty good I thought. Went better than the actual marriage anyways.

I was trying to take some more photos of the Girls with Miss Belle today while they were out having some free range time. Didn't get any shot at all with both her and any of the girls in it. Stinking Brat!! Either she or they would jump off of the straw bale as I was taking the picture. Oh well.

for dogs and birds....it takes time...I have two pits and have shared these pics...at first they didn't get along...now they protect....be patient....that's all I can say it will work out....you have to work with the dogs...pm me if you wanna know how I did it

Your dogs are beautiful!

Just wanted to jump in here and say "Hi".

I have a variety of chickens.. a few of them are "mutts" I guess you could say.

I'm pretty excited, my barred rock hen just started laying a few weeks ago. She's been pretty steady since then and now my golden seabright has joined in with the laying! I thought I loved my chickens before... lol - now I'm even happier with them. I have a couple other mutt hens (who are very sweet, I love them) and a big orange roo that looks like a barred rock, except he's orange.
I also have a couple cochin roos, one black mottled and one calico. That sums up my adult birds (but they're all pretty young yet).

I ordered chicks last summer, (Purely Poultry) and after giving half away to my cousin (who gave me most of the adult birds I have now), I ended up with 4 blue cochins and 4 Mille Fluer D'uccles. I have them in a separate coop.. unfortunately I think the adult birds would kill them if they were put in the same run. I've had one get away from me and into the adult pen before and they attacked her pretty brutally. Luckily I was right there and got her out pretty quickly.

I just placed an order with Meyer Hatchery. (hoping to have as good of luck with them as Purely Poultry)..
I ordered 5 buff orpingtons, 3 barred rocks, 3 easter eggers and 4 Black Australorps. (all female chicks).
They will be here the 1st week of April. Very excited! Just wanted to share with some fellow Michigan chicken people! Not too many around here are sharing in my excitement! LOL

Oh, quick question - do any of you put petroleum jelly on your roos combs to prevent frostbite? I have a silver duck wing roo - his comb looks a little off color (dusty white-ish).
