Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Could be....timing's about right, and maybe they didn't want to announce the gosling case until the testing in Iowa was confirmed.
That's sort of what I was thinking. They may have gotten a positive result at the lab here, then sent it off to Iowa to confirm the findings here. That's fairly standard protocol I do believe. I suspect the tests locally came back positive, the issued the quarantine/cancellations, then released the positive AI results today once the confirmation came in.

@Maah....I have a new penciled rock called Sunny too!, from Wynette....I'm so happy with her, what a lovely little thing she is, she has a buddy called Grace also from Wynette.....awesome birds as are all the birds I have had from her, what a great lady, she really knows her birds

Hi all,
Please let me know if I'm posting in the wrong place and if so, where I should post?
I have a friend in the general Lansing area who is looking for hatching eggs. She's would like to build a small layer/therapy flock of standard-sized hens and has plans in place for any roosters that result.

Many thanks in advance!
Anne

If people keep posting pictures of cute young goats I may be forced to post a picture of an old goat. Naw, forget that I said that. Most of you have seen pictures of me.

I really wish ya'll would QUIT posting pix of CUTE baby goats! I still remember Ron & Luna from last year...makes it SO tempting (but not gonna happen!)

I was gonna post the article about the AI discovered in Macomb County..but, I see the "news" made it on the thread yesterday..

Stacy Cal is adorable!

Pk the package is on its way - sounds like code!

The pigs killed another chicken last night. She was so trampled and mud covered I had to wash a wing to tell who she was. She is one of my wild flock who think the live in the pig pen still. They fly in and even go in the shed with the pigs which I can't break them of. The two they have killed I believe we're accidents. They weren't eaten but the pigs were playing with the carcasses.

I have one group of chicks that are acting "off". Sleepy, a couple hunched and sloppy poops. They haven't had medicated feed so I added some Corid to the water thinking it may be a minor case of Coccidiosis. That one whole group has been abnormal since hatching and I can't blame it on a particular breed or location I bought eggs because there are three different sources and 4 different breeds I the group.

Off to give my tiniest Serema a bath this morning. I discovered a poopy butt and mites on her last night. Then work! Summer reading starts today with a Coast Guard visit to the library.

Thanks taprock!!

Sorry about the trampled bird; though, I must admit, I have this funny picture of chickens hanging with pigs!

You know, I have one bird acting sleepy too; she's eating, drinking; but just "off". Of course, with AI..I got a tad worried, though she's not showing any signs of that. DIdn't think of Corid (her poops looked ok the other day, except that I've had to "clean" her bottom off due to her laying around more than normal). Hmmmm....
