I got a 50 pound bag from Family Farm & Home for $15. Not sure how much they go for at TSC. Maybe try a restaurant that has oysters Rockefeller on the menu for the discarded shells.

50lb for $15 is a price i"d be ok with. I think I paid like $7 for 5lb or something.

Where is the best place to get oyster shell? I feel like it's kind of expensive from TSC. Anyone order online and get a better price?

I get mine at the grain mill for cheap, can't remember how much less than buck/lb.

The oyster shell in 50 lb. bags is way cheaper than the small bags of the stuff. Try the feed stores in your area. Shipping charges would be $$$. Mary

Finally for the last of the patching needed to happen on our barn roof done today. I sweated thru about four 32 oz bottles of gatorade today. just wish it could have had more clouds and less heat.


Also tonight just as I was putting the girls in for the night, I collected a bunch of tomato worms of our tomato plants and gave them to the girls. would have thought the girls would have gone crazy over them, but they seemed to turn their beaks up at them. ended up just squishing them in the coop. They did just have a bunch of treats earlier, but I would have thought they would have wanted to gobble them up.

Went and collected some hidden eggs from the coop. Right top to bottom chicken & 2 Peking (that one in the middle had to of hurt) and left top to bottom Rouen,chicken, Rouen.

The incubator thread I am in say the LG is considered a death trap. I got a farm innovator and has been holding temp for 3 days now.

Everyone loves to hate the LG's.....I've had good success with the one I have.
Bought it with 1 or 2 uses on it...it had a turner and a fan, I think the fan and turner are essential to keep temps steady.
Never used any other style tho and I've only done 5 hatches with it, just started my 6th yesterday.
