Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Farm Inovations bought from Family Farm and Home. Weird weather up here (was in the 70's/80's when I set it up and temps dropped to the low 60's and the 50's at night. Had to turn on the pellet stove brrrrr) is what I am blaming it on, plus my zero experience.
I knew it was from somewhere, lol.

Weird weather seems like it could definitely contribute. When it's all said and done will you let me know you're opinion on the incubator? I'm still looking for one

I think the incubator is great, had to get the turner as well. I would definitely invest in a couple really good thermometer humidity gauge combo since I dont think the top side one was accurate.

we have an FI incubator and no, those top thermometers are notorious for being way off. We put the strip thermometer inside along with a calibrated battery controlled thermometer/humidity reader we got at Wally World :) Keeping those internal thermometers at 99.5 - 100 shows on OUR unit one generally 102-105. Very inaccurate .

mine is the opposite! Internal reading 100* and the top side reading 95/96*

The pair i got are doing great and fit right in with the others here. They are maturing nicely and cant wait to use them in my porcelain project next spring. "Pick & Lacey" teamed up with the others here that is their age and run around like they was raised here with no hiccups. They love watermelon and free range time in the horse poo pile. Thanks agin for them!!!

I'm so glad for this update! I knew they'd be happy there.

we seem to have a bob cat and her kits, residing in the swamp behind the barn. saw her first a week ago with 4 kits, just playing around in the front yard by the barn. then again yesterday, she was a lone and stalking some rabbits that were out. First time was about 8:30 AM , yesterday was about 6:15 ,,,, This AM when DH and I came back from our walk, the back yard (were the chickens free range, about 1/2 acre fenced in no one was insight. and it was unusually quiet(about 10:30AM) I went down to check and other then they were hiding in and under the coop all seemed, fine. BUT about 10 min latter they were still hiding. I went out and tossed some BOSS around and hung out to change water in all the water's then they finally came out an acted normal. could have been a low flying hawk, or a visit from momma bob cat. they seemed more scared then normal. no one seems to be missing?? will have to keep a close watch

So would the major swing in temp cause the ladies to not lay? I only got 3 eggs today when I was consistently getting 5-7 previously. Also, I think one of my EEs, Goldie, is going to go broody. She's been in the nest boxes every time I've gone out there recently. I caught her sleeping in the next box last night as well on top of fake eggs.
