Always had been here....we can't shoot does though....can't hunt overt bait by Alpena downstate because of bovine tuberculosis....there a big old bridge between us and them..

So the latest test results are in.
All things are in the normal range including the ferritin which went from 1479 to 88. That was the factor holding up the surgery. So I expect that they will be scheduling the grand opening very soon.

So would anyone be willing to check on my animals while I'm in hospital?


Also, do you know anyone with a decent couch that they are getting rid of?

I hope you are able to find someone for your critters. I'm too far away but would if I were closer.

I lived in the Soo. The best hunting was grouse, snowshoes, ducks&geese. My friend always got a deer but I agree - far and few between. The walleye on the St.Mary's was outstanding! Just saying.

Yeah walleye been biting for sure....Deer are just way down

I wish hunting up here would go back to the way it was on the 80's and early 90's...when there were less predators Rabbits and deer both were more abundant.

I AM CAUGHT UP !!! Took me forever though. I am again going into winter with too many birds and unprepared.

Tomorrow is the opening of the deer gun season and temperatures are better suited for fishing. I'll still go because it is opening day but unless a buck much larger than the ones I have hanging on the wall steps into my sights I won't be taking anything. We still have lots of time to fill our larder so I wil wait for colder weather. I think trying to hook in to some steelhead will be a much better use of the coming week.

My little brother must have stunk up on one this morning while it was sleeping. This one actually has some tines on him instead of his usual spike horn buck he's gotten in the past.

Sat in my blind from 6 to 11 and had 6 does, a 4 point, and a 2 1/2 year old 8 point all within easy shooting distance. Passed on all of them. Too warm to shoot anything plus I let small bucks walk. Wish the people hunting the adjacent properties would do the same. Maybe then we start having some decent sized bucks again.
