@iamfivewire

This is the picture from FB that you couldn't see.
lets see they would all be about six months? They all look like pullets to me....or has any of them crowed yet? The red one on the left is definitely from our EE stock, the white one probably is a mix, but the black and white? hard to tell but not typical Iowa coloring and Iowa cockerel have much more comb by 6 months. Our Iowa mixes and boys usually start to crow at about 3 months with a pretty well developed comb :)

All three are roos. Hatched July 11, 2015

So how is this for comb? With a touch of frostbite.

Would you believe that on Thursday when I was tracking that Coyote's prints across the field, I picked up a wrapper for some scooby snacks?

Think the bugger has been using a double row of pine trees for cover for slipping onto our farm. There's supposed to be a pack of them down by the River Raisin which is about a mile east of me. Would like to just go with the 3 S method of dealing with him, but there's also a couple of houses back that way. Would have to hike around the field a bit to line up a shot where I don't have to worry about missing him so much. Thinking it might just be simpler to get a live trap and set it up out there. Then again, our other neighbor just to my west wouldn't mind getting him either, and he would have a pretty good shot at him right from his front porch if they can just catch him down by the creek. He's up on a hill a bit.

Hard to say what raided the garbage and littered in the field...could have just blown in too<shrug> makes ya wonder tho, huh?

Man, you'd need a big live trap! Wonder if they are as savvy as fox with live traps? Worth a try I guess.
The snow makes for an interesting picture of what's moving around out there.

Yeah, Who knows on that. Have kicked around the idea of setting up a live trap up there, see if that would catch the bugger.

And in other news, I got a hen who seems pretty sick. Found her on the floor of the coop and I first thought she was dead just from looking at her. I crawled in to get her and she woke up, but seems pretty lethargic. Got her sitting out in the barn in our heated tack room in a pet crate, hoping maybe that would perk her up a little. not really sure of what else to do for her right now.

Bummer.
A bit of warmth, food and water, close observation of intakes and outputs might garner a clue.
Best of cLuck with her.
Yeah, mom did say that she did see one of the white ones looking kinda funny earlier this morning. would have to run out there in a bit to take a look at her.
