Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

When someone special to you passes they take a piece of you with them. However, they also leave a piece of themselves with you - that way we always have them with us.

Grief for the loss of those dearly loved never passes, but it we are fortunate it eases with time, so that we can remember the happy times without overwhelming sorrow.

I have 2 Silkie Roosters I need to sell. One Splash and 1 black with white cheeks. They where hatched in July. I live in the Tri City area. Please pm me if interested.

I was loading up a treat bottle for the girls yesterday and I managed to spill a bunch of it on the floor of the garage there.

Luckily, I found a few volunteers to help me to clean up the spilled goodies up.

However, I did end up having to clean up after them.

SICK FINCH ALERT! I just found a wild finch at my bird feeder, with red rimmed eyes, and that nasty respiratory illness that shows up sometimes. After I take my bird feeders down and bleach them, I'm not refilling them for at least a month, so the birds disperse and don't infect each other here. I'm also keeping my chickens in for a while, to minimize their exposure. DARN! It's not a good thing! I'm near Perry, so especially around this area, be looking out for this. Mary

Was it dead?
Any organization tracking this disease that might want to necropsy?

I don't have the body, but talked to Dr. Fulton, who said it is likely Mycoplasma gallisepticum. UGH!!! I have put in a report to the DNR but haven't heard back. I will be collecting any bodies or very sick birds for them. Mary

I just received an e-mail from TSC offering a 10% discount coupon. Here it is on their website, http://view.ex.tractorsupply.com/?j...97d1c&jb=ff901378&ju=fe4c16797c65027a7d1d&r=0

Just in time for Chick Days. I think I need a few to supplement these girls of mine who are getting older. Should I make a quick run before the storm hits? Or wait until tomorrow? I have extra time on my hands today since we opted out of the Ag Comm meeting due to the weather forecast.
